For the past couple of years, we’ve seen a handful of fragrance brands come up with custom blend boxes – where customers and mix and match scents and notes to create their own blends. Los Angeles-based Memoire Liquide and Canada’s The 7 Virtues Fragrance Company have both launched successful sets. This has been a particularly popular service at select Barney’s stores and Fred Segal. This spring French Couture House Givenchy introduces a new twist on the theme: a scent enhancer. Here’s how it works. You buy the Angel or Demon Le Parfum set that contains a tiny second bottle called the “son accord illicite”. You can wear the popular Angel or Demon scent as you normally would on the pulse points. But for an evening event or date, you add one drop of the accord illicite enhancer. It instantly adds sex appeal and creates a more prominent scent trail. That means when you walk through a crowd or room, your fragrance will be more prominent. It’s a scent trick that chic Parisienne women have known for years. Givenchy calls it “instant seduction”.
This new way of experiencing fragrance is part of Givenchy’s Art of Perfumery, the heritage and knowledge of blending exquisite scents.
On its own, Angel or Demon is an innocent Floriental Woody scent with notes of sambac jasmine, musk and fine leather accord.
But add a drop of the accord which includes a few very highly qualitative raw materials: patchouli, fine leather, white musk and amber, and the scents becomes much sexier. Simply add one drop of the accord over the parfum on one of your pulse points.
Expect to see more of this trend in the coming 12 months. Women and men love to customize their fragrances. This is evident with the success of niche fragrance houses of late. You’ll soon be able to become your own perfumer.
The giveaway: Congrats to Sarah T from Oregon. I drew her name at random from below. She won a set!

June 1, 2015 at 3:19 pminteresting idea but one thing that springs to mind is: if this proves popular and I go to some social event and every woman will be leaving her “trail” then pretty sure the room will be filled with scent so much you cant breathe 🙂

June 1, 2015 at 2:07 pmThis is exciting and I’d love to try it. It would be particularly interesting as the patchouli in the accord has always been a scent that my body chemistry works well with.
