Each summer, fragrance houses come out with summer editions of their most popular scents. Calvin Klein updates its Eternity franchise each April with beach-inspired packaging; Dolce & Gabbana offer their Mediterranean vacation scents; and Jean-Paul Gaultier dresses his Classique bottle in palm leaves and peacocks. Each is a little work of art.
But summer 2015 belongs to YSL’s spectacular Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition scent. It’s a younger, fresher interpretation of the original eau de toilette scent boasting notes of wild rose, violet leaf, neroli, peony, lily-of-the-valley, white musk and sandalwood.
The packaging and bottle design are the brainchild of Japanese artist Que Houxo who studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo.
He boasts an ultra-modern method of painting. He projects fluorescent painting on the walls, splashing flowers and using a specific light to reveal their intense colours.
It’s in effect, an explosion of fluorescent flowers dancing under UV lights. A handful of trend experts have identified Houxo as a rising star in the art world.
YSL Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition arrives exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in mid-April.
I gave away one of these exquisite bottles to one lucky follower. Congrats to Sophie Marsolais! We drew her name at random from all the entries below.

April 11, 2015 at 11:55 amMany bottles are gorgeous but I’ve never brought a fragrance solely on bottle design.

April 11, 2015 at 11:43 amAlthough I absolutely LOVE some of the packaging/bottle designs and have a few on my vanity I love to display for just that reason, it still has to be an amazing scent for me to buy it. It can be the most beautiful bottle in the world, but if the scent isn’t lovely to me I will not buy the fragrance 🙂

April 11, 2015 at 11:16 amI usually don’t buy a fragrance based on the bottle design. I have allergies so I have to smell the fragrance first but I do love these bottles because I am a hippie and love tie dye which these are similar to in design.

April 11, 2015 at 11:15 amI’ve never bought perfume for the bottle, not for myself. It is nice as a gift but you should be very sure about receiver’s taste 😉

First time I bought perfume on my own was Celine Dion, Loved the bottles and lucky enough loved the scents. Now when im out I check out the perfume/bottles to add more to my collection. Even my latiest Red/Blk bottle is stunning. This YSL must have collection would be awesome for my soon to be 15yr old on 23rd we just might have to share the scent . LOL

April 11, 2015 at 10:19 amI’ve never bought perfume solely because of the bottle. I do have lots of pretty bottles in my collection, but I purchased them because I liked the perfume…the lovely bottle design is an added bonus! I’d certainly consider buying a limited edition bottle if it was a perfume I already liked, or was a flanker for a perfume I already liked.
Thank you for the interesting question and the chance to win such a beautiful, iconic fragrance in such a lovely bottle!

April 11, 2015 at 10:17 amIf I did I would have way too many bottles of perfume lying around! I love Jean Paul Gaultier bottle designs – so smart to use the male and female torso in the design. Anna Sui always has interesting bottles too. I remember having a bottle of Avon perfume as a child – the first bottle of scent that I was ever given. The bottle was a white mouse in a wedding dress. I kept that bottle for years.

April 11, 2015 at 10:11 amThis is an interesting question. I haven’t ever bought a fragrance specifically for the bottle, but who hasn’t been seduced by the fragrance packaging? Have I tried and liked a fragrance because of the unique bottle? I’m certain I have…

April 11, 2015 at 10:08 amI’ve seen a few bottles that have caught my eye but I’d never buy a fragrance based solely on the bottle

April 11, 2015 at 9:59 amWow, i`m amazed by the all process of making this bottle. I`v never bought a perfume just because of i`t bottle, but it`s certainly the first thing that caugths my eyes before I ask to try a new fragance at a store

April 11, 2015 at 9:56 amYes I have. I am a long time lover of Clique’s “HAPPY”. N someone told me that I could get my own picture on bottle for a beautiful keepsake. I was even more hooked and never going n to detox. I’m a girl who grew up with all the Avon bottles on her dresser, smile, t was nice n relaxing to finally find ME

April 11, 2015 at 9:52 amYears ago I bought Paloma Picasso because of the bottle Also her red lipstick for the smell of it and the colour. The lipstick smell reminded me of the makeup my mother used to wear. Lipstick now does not have much of a smell

April 11, 2015 at 9:38 amI have bought cheap fragrances because the bottle was pretty, but the more expensive they get, the less likely I am to do so.

April 11, 2015 at 9:34 amPunch2theneck is my twitter name and I can’t say I’ve boughten perfume just because of the bottle but I do go to cool shaped or different shaped bottles usually first! JPG was a favorite of mine for so long now I just got to remember if it’s because of the bottle or smell lol
