Each summer, fragrance houses come out with summer editions of their most popular scents. Calvin Klein updates its Eternity franchise each April with beach-inspired packaging; Dolce & Gabbana offer their Mediterranean vacation scents; and Jean-Paul Gaultier dresses his Classique bottle in palm leaves and peacocks. Each is a little work of art.
But summer 2015 belongs to YSL’s spectacular Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition scent. It’s a younger, fresher interpretation of the original eau de toilette scent boasting notes of wild rose, violet leaf, neroli, peony, lily-of-the-valley, white musk and sandalwood.
The packaging and bottle design are the brainchild of Japanese artist Que Houxo who studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo.
He boasts an ultra-modern method of painting. He projects fluorescent painting on the walls, splashing flowers and using a specific light to reveal their intense colours.
It’s in effect, an explosion of fluorescent flowers dancing under UV lights. A handful of trend experts have identified Houxo as a rising star in the art world.
YSL Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition arrives exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in mid-April.
I gave away one of these exquisite bottles to one lucky follower. Congrats to Sophie Marsolais! We drew her name at random from all the entries below.

April 8, 2015 at 1:52 pmI have never bought a bottle of perfume based on the design, however if I like the fragrance on me then I will purchase the perfume!

April 8, 2015 at 12:50 pmAbsolutely. I must admit the bottle design is what catches my eye before I even try the perfume. That is was attracted me to Kenzo Flower. In general here are so many pretty and unique bottles for example very creative Anna Sui ones. Lots to catch our eye and tempt us. @September Dee

April 8, 2015 at 11:27 amYes I have! Lucky for me they turned out to be fragrances that I love! Saw them in a magazine & had to have them. The 1st was “Live Luxe” by JLo. Such a beautiful bottle. The 2nd was “Fabulosity” by Kimora Lee Simmons. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend! 😀

April 8, 2015 at 11:07 amYes, Paloma Picasso, Dior’s Dolce Vita which I still love, and especially the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria, which has beautiful bottles, but is hard to test so you basically have to know what you like and order blind. This year’s Teazzurra is gorgeous!

April 8, 2015 at 10:42 amI have purchased a perfume just for the bottle. When I was on vacation, I saw a bottle of Je Reviens Worth packaged in a lalique bottle for ten dollars. I had never even sniffed the perfume before I bought it.

April 8, 2015 at 10:38 amI must admit, I’m a sucker for beautiful and unique perfume bottle designs. So, yes, I have definitely purchased products based on their packaging. Perfume bottles tend to stick around longer than any other product, so I think it’s always a nice bonus to have something lovely to look at on my vanity.

April 8, 2015 at 10:00 amI’ve only bought one perfume for the bottle and that was M by Mariah Carey, I actual bought the perfume for the fragrance; the bottle was a plus. I would have to enjoy the fragrance over a pretty bottle.

April 8, 2015 at 8:54 amTruthfully I’ve been wearing the same brand & scent of perfume for a very long time. While I love the smell & bottle I’ve wanted to try something different for awhile. Would love for this YSL scent & bottle design which is very beautiful to be the one!!

April 8, 2015 at 8:33 amI remember the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance in the beautiful corseted figure contained in a can. Simple packaging on the outside and perfection on the inside.

April 8, 2015 at 3:21 amNope, I’ve never brought a perfume for its bottle, but this sure looks like a beautiful one to start doing that! hehe..
If i love a scent, I buy it, regardless of the bottle, but if there were two perfumes I couldn’t choose between, I would definitely go with the one that would look awesome on my dresser! 🙂

April 8, 2015 at 3:02 amYes I have! The scent has to be something I like. If I have a couple I want and like the prettiest bottle usually wins out.
