Each summer, fragrance houses come out with summer editions of their most popular scents. Calvin Klein updates its Eternity franchise each April with beach-inspired packaging; Dolce & Gabbana offer their Mediterranean vacation scents; and Jean-Paul Gaultier dresses his Classique bottle in palm leaves and peacocks. Each is a little work of art.
But summer 2015 belongs to YSL’s spectacular Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition scent. It’s a younger, fresher interpretation of the original eau de toilette scent boasting notes of wild rose, violet leaf, neroli, peony, lily-of-the-valley, white musk and sandalwood.
The packaging and bottle design are the brainchild of Japanese artist Que Houxo who studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo.
He boasts an ultra-modern method of painting. He projects fluorescent painting on the walls, splashing flowers and using a specific light to reveal their intense colours.
It’s in effect, an explosion of fluorescent flowers dancing under UV lights. A handful of trend experts have identified Houxo as a rising star in the art world.
YSL Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition arrives exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in mid-April.
I gave away one of these exquisite bottles to one lucky follower. Congrats to Sophie Marsolais! We drew her name at random from all the entries below.

I have never bought a bottle of perfume based on the design, however if I like the fragrance on me then I will purchase the perfume!

Absolutely. I must admit the bottle design is what catches my eye before I even try the perfume. That is was attracted me to Kenzo Flower. In general here are so many pretty and unique bottles for example very creative Anna Sui ones. Lots to catch our eye and tempt us. @September Dee

Non jamais ,le design du flacon n’est pas trés important ,j’ai besoin de le sentir avant.
Parfois j’avoue que lorsque le flacon est particulier ,c’est assez attirant ,je me rend donc en parfumerie avant, pour l’essayer.

Yes I have! Lucky for me they turned out to be fragrances that I love! Saw them in a magazine & had to have them. The 1st was “Live Luxe” by JLo. Such a beautiful bottle. The 2nd was “Fabulosity” by Kimora Lee Simmons. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend! 😀

Yes, Paloma Picasso, Dior’s Dolce Vita which I still love, and especially the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria, which has beautiful bottles, but is hard to test so you basically have to know what you like and order blind. This year’s Teazzurra is gorgeous!

I have purchased a perfume just for the bottle. When I was on vacation, I saw a bottle of Je Reviens Worth packaged in a lalique bottle for ten dollars. I had never even sniffed the perfume before I bought it.

No not yet! Though I very much wanted to get a Vera Wang Princess because of its bottle two years ago lol.

I must admit, I’m a sucker for beautiful and unique perfume bottle designs. So, yes, I have definitely purchased products based on their packaging. Perfume bottles tend to stick around longer than any other product, so I think it’s always a nice bonus to have something lovely to look at on my vanity.

I’ve never bought a fragrance just for the bottle design but I’ve been tempted to do that before!

Probably 10 years ,ago I found my fragrance! It was Paris! I love everything bought this fragrance. Others come and go, but everytime I wear it I get comments about how I smell. How I would love this bottle!
Becky BraggApril 8, 2015 at 10:00 am
I’ve only bought one perfume for the bottle and that was M by Mariah Carey, I actual bought the perfume for the fragrance; the bottle was a plus. I would have to enjoy the fragrance over a pretty bottle.

Yes I have, thankfully I liked the scent
AleksandraApril 8, 2015 at 9:11 am
Yes, it was Lolita Lempicka and her apple shaped bottle. The scent inside the bottle is so lovely too! @twinsneedtobeto

Truthfully I’ve been wearing the same brand & scent of perfume for a very long time. While I love the smell & bottle I’ve wanted to try something different for awhile. Would love for this YSL scent & bottle design which is very beautiful to be the one!!
Kim CageApril 8, 2015 at 8:35 am
It has influenced my decision but not soley. Have to love the fragrance first and foremost! I do love the design of this bottle and I love YSL fragrances! It is @sugarbritches56

I remember the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance in the beautiful corseted figure contained in a can. Simple packaging on the outside and perfection on the inside.
Heather SibleyApril 8, 2015 at 7:51 am
What a cool bottle design! I haven’t purchaed a fragrance simply for its bottle design but I have been tempted.

I have purchased a perfume solely for the container. I think that us the whole attraction what you can hold in your hand and visually see, scent is secondary. It is @HildaWhincup
Gabriela L.April 8, 2015 at 7:24 am
No, never. The most important thing is how it smells.
Debbie BashfordApril 8, 2015 at 7:23 am
I love unusual bottles and yes I have bought perfumes just because I liked the container! This YSL bottle is very cool
LouisaApril 8, 2015 at 7:19 am
I LOVE YSL and the new packaging is amazing!!!
LeyaApril 8, 2015 at 3:21 am
Nope, I’ve never brought a perfume for its bottle, but this sure looks like a beautiful one to start doing that! hehe..
If i love a scent, I buy it, regardless of the bottle, but if there were two perfumes I couldn’t choose between, I would definitely go with the one that would look awesome on my dresser! 🙂

Yes I have! The scent has to be something I like. If I have a couple I want and like the prettiest bottle usually wins out.
