YSL’s must-have collector bottle!

Each summer, fragrance houses come out with summer editions of their most popular scents. Calvin Klein updates its Eternity franchise each April with beach-inspired packaging; Dolce & Gabbana offer their Mediterranean vacation scents; and Jean-Paul Gaultier dresses his Classique bottle in palm leaves and peacocks. Each is a little work of art.

But summer 2015 belongs to YSL’s spectacular Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition scent. It’s a younger, fresher interpretation of the original eau de toilette scent boasting notes of wild rose, violet leaf, neroli, peony, lily-of-the-valley, white musk and sandalwood.

The packaging and bottle design are the brainchild of Japanese artist Que Houxo who studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo.

He boasts an ultra-modern method of painting. He projects fluorescent painting on the walls, splashing flowers and using a specific light to reveal their intense colours.

It’s in effect, an explosion of fluorescent flowers dancing under UV lights. A handful of trend experts have identified Houxo as a rising star in the art world.

YSL Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition arrives exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in mid-April.

I gave away one of these exquisite bottles to one lucky follower. Congrats to Sophie Marsolais! We drew her name at random from all the entries below.

I always smell first, but it must be the imagery that makes you pick that particular bottle up in the first place!

No, I’ve never bought a fragrance solely on the bottle design, I can’t afford that… lol

No the scent has to work for me first before design. I will probably hold on to it longer if it has a gorgeous design

I haven’t bought a perfume solely on the bottle design but there was a time when I loved to collect empty perfume bottles! I had such a nice mini collection!

Many year’s ago, I bought the Moschino ‘Chic & Cheap’ bottle just because it was designed to look like Olive Oil from Popeye. Although I did like the scent too. I still have the empty bottle, still love the look of it hehehe

I haven’t bought a perfume only for its bottle although a beautiful bottle is probably considered during my buying process. Having a gorgeous perfume on display definitely brightens up my dressing table e.g Marc Jacobs Lola

I must admit this is one of the most gorgeous bottles ever released. Very chic!
I did get a lace edition of D&G The One only because I thought the lace print made it look more cute. The flacon itself is not one of the best out there. So the lace made it a touch better looking.
Also Viktor Rouwlf’s FlowerBomb gives out bwautiful Limited Edition flacons and I personally love all their designs!

Perhaps the first thing I see is the packaging, but the most important is always the fragance, for this would have to say .. I’ve never bought only by the packaging

Gorgeous bottle! I’ve bought a few bottles over the years solely for the bottle. One in particular, Cabochard Gres, I purchased because it had a pale grey velvet bow. I loved it!!! 😀

Yes I have! I think a lot of bottles now are extremely beautiful. Just to have them on display is enough for me.

I like the packaging but the scent is much more important to me. I bought Sonia Rykiel Sweater bottle and the name doesn’t have anything to do with fragrance too. I love the scent. That’s what really matters to me. – @margaritaviera
