#BCAstrength Friends Supporting Friends Contest! One of the things I’ve learned over the past two years on Twitter is that every cancer survivor that has shared his or her story with me counts a host of family, friends and caregivers that helped them beat this disease. Some sit with them during doctor appointments. Others take care of their kids during chemo treatments. And some just check in regularly on social media with a kind word of support. Over and over I hear the message that they couldn’t do it alone.
I remember one woman telling me that it was the friends she had made on Twitter that gave her the strength to go through the chemo treatments. When she was feeling badly, she’d log onto Twitter and her friends would cheer her up.
The Giveaway: For this reason, I’m giving away this double set of #BCAstrength Pink Ribbon items on my blog. One set is for that person that has really helped you through a difficult time. That may be breast cancer or it can be any illness or difficulty. And the second set is for you. Tell me in a blog post comment below who you’d like to thank with one of these sets. On October 31st, I drew the name Natasha from Canada from all the entries. Thank you to everyone who shared their incredible stories. You are all heroes to me.
You can also help support the fight against breast cancer by visiting BCAcampaign.com. Post a video, photo or message and the Estee Lauder Companies will donate $25 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This will fund 30 minutes of breast cancer research.
“We have accomplished so much, but there’s still a lot of work ahead of us to make breast cancer a thing of the past,” says Elizabeth Hurley, Global Ambassador of the BCA Campaign. “Simple gestures, from reminding your friends to schedule their annual health appointments to making a donation in a loved one’s honour to supporting lifesaving research, can go a long way. When we join together and take action together for a common goal, we really can accomplish anything.”

October 19, 2015 at 1:57 pmI would share this with my good friend Jo. She underwent a double mastectomy five years ago, but is a true fighter. On a check up last year, her doctor discovered cancer cells in her stomach, so then removed 80% of her stomach. I just saw Jo this weekend for a concert, and she looked fantastic. She always looks at the bright side, and told me instead of considering it cancer surgery, her stomach operation was like “a free gastric bypass.” She was given six months to live six years ago, so she considers every day a precious gift, and I would love to give this great woman and friend a lovely gift to honor her incredible inner and outer beauty.

October 19, 2015 at 1:30 pmI would like to give this second set to my sister, a breast cancer survivor….. She has shown great strength during her treatment and positive spirits throughout and after…… A couple years ago, she suddenly lost her husband and 3 months later was diagnosed with cancer in the same year. She was then widowed and a single mom of a 2 1/2 yr old, sweet little girl. I admire her strength, love, and positive attitude as a survivor. @guccigoogirl
