#BCAstrength Friends Supporting Friends Contest! One of the things I’ve learned over the past two years on Twitter is that every cancer survivor that has shared his or her story with me counts a host of family, friends and caregivers that helped them beat this disease. Some sit with them during doctor appointments. Others take care of their kids during chemo treatments. And some just check in regularly on social media with a kind word of support. Over and over I hear the message that they couldn’t do it alone.
I remember one woman telling me that it was the friends she had made on Twitter that gave her the strength to go through the chemo treatments. When she was feeling badly, she’d log onto Twitter and her friends would cheer her up.
The Giveaway: For this reason, I’m giving away this double set of #BCAstrength Pink Ribbon items on my blog. One set is for that person that has really helped you through a difficult time. That may be breast cancer or it can be any illness or difficulty. And the second set is for you. Tell me in a blog post comment below who you’d like to thank with one of these sets. On October 31st, I drew the name Natasha from Canada from all the entries. Thank you to everyone who shared their incredible stories. You are all heroes to me.
You can also help support the fight against breast cancer by visiting BCAcampaign.com. Post a video, photo or message and the Estee Lauder Companies will donate $25 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This will fund 30 minutes of breast cancer research.
“We have accomplished so much, but there’s still a lot of work ahead of us to make breast cancer a thing of the past,” says Elizabeth Hurley, Global Ambassador of the BCA Campaign. “Simple gestures, from reminding your friends to schedule their annual health appointments to making a donation in a loved one’s honour to supporting lifesaving research, can go a long way. When we join together and take action together for a common goal, we really can accomplish anything.”

October 19, 2015 at 12:23 pmI would give the set to my mom. She lives by herself and she does so much volunteer work. It would put a smile on her face, especially as she does not buy nice things for herself very often.

October 19, 2015 at 11:57 amIf it wasn’t for my friend Bonnie Dunsieth Birkmann I don’t think my nerves would have made it through the terrible spring I had last year ….Seemed like everything was happening at once , lost a dear friend to Breast Cancer that spread to her liver and devasted me , I was so in denial kept thinking she was going to beat right up to day she passed , then on top of it all I had to move into a place that wasn’t quite in my budget and start up my dog sitting business all at once and then had my own Cancer Scare and was diagnosed with Vulvar Cancer which they were able to remove but still have to have Bi-opsy’s every 6 months for the rest of my life now , ……But with this dear friends support and help and kind words I am doing well now and even making a go of the Dog Sitting Business , happy smiles at the end of a Dark Road 🙂 @birdie0322
