New York-based apothecary brand Kiehl’s is donating 100% of net proceeds of a Limited Edition Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to the Canadian Wildlife Federation to protect the fragile Atlantic Puffin population along the East Coast. Sales from this cult product will be used by Kiehl’s to symbolically adopt 300 puffins as part of the CWF Adopt a Species program. The funds will be used to support research to better understand the threats facing Canada’s at-risk seabirds and ensure their habitat is conserved.
Launched in 2009, the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado quickly became a customer favourite. The thick, creamy preparation helps keep the delicate skin around the eye area well hydrated. Fatty acids naturally found in Avocado oil are superbly rich and act as effective moisturizers. Additionally, they provide a natural and gentle source of Vitamin A. Shea butter in the formula works as a conditioning agent and provides further moisturization.
What’s unique about this product is that is has a two-part structure for dual hydration. Upon application, the cream feels buttery on skin. Gently blending the formula with the tip of your finger bursts a barrier so that water is released into the skin. You’ll feel a refreshing sensation when this happens. The texture also allows the cream to hold its place in the delicate under-eye area so it absorbs and doesn’t migrate into the eyes. It’s colourant and fragrance-free so it won’t irritate eyes. It can be used day or night.
The limited edition product boasts a unique label of puffins perched on a seaside cliff. It’s the work of renowned Canadian artist Robert Bateman and is entitled “Bright Day – Atlantic Puffins.” He’s one of the country’s finest artists and is known for his commitment to ecology and conservation.
Atlantic Puffins spend much of their time at sea, swimming and diving for small fish, their favourite food. They are much better at swimming than flying. You’ll notice frequent Puffin crash landings if you see them in their natural habitat. They are best known for their vibrant appearance during mating season. Their bills become vivid orange, blue and yellow in colour. When breeding season ends, they shed these colourful bill plates.
The “Atlantic Puffin” Limited Edition Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is available at Kiehl’s counters in Canada now and at thebay.com.
I gave away a pair of these products to one lucky winner who commented on the blog post. Congrats to Daniel M.

April 12, 2015 at 3:41 pmGood cause, cute little creatures.
I find it extremely difficult to find an under-eye cream which would answer my sensitive face skin/eyes needs. Even if this one would not work for me, at least supporting ‘the puffin project’ would make me feel good.

April 12, 2015 at 3:38 pmKiehl’s is joining many environmentally and socially responsible corporations by adopting a specific cause tying it to one of their best-selling products. Buy this exquisite eye cream and 100% of the profits will be donated to save the Atlantic Puffin. So worthwhile, so smart and so necessary.

April 12, 2015 at 3:20 pmIt commendable to see such a big cosmetics brand take on a good cause for the sake of animals, when so many others mistreat them.
