One of the biggest surprises for me when I first joined Twitter two years ago was how many truly lovely people I met. I’ve told the story several times that I resisted joining social media as the editors in my city used it to show how fabulous they were. It came across to me as bragging and I didn’t want anything to do with that. Thankfully my friend Heather convinced me to join and I was immediately taken on how many great people are on Twitter. I met Nina Westbury (@ninawmakeup) on Twitter when she won one of my contests. She gave me the wrong address to her house twice!! I discovered the Bridgette Jones of Beauty through social media. She’s become such a dear friend. She makes me laugh so hard with her misadventures and the stories she makes up about me. My favourite was when she told everyone I insisted her son play the harp at our events. There are so many others I’ve met. It would take pages to list them all. But I’m so grateful to have met each of you.
There were so many people who shared their incredible stories below. If you get a chance, read through them. They’re heartwarming. Everyone had a great story. I drew from all entries below and Stacy Bauer from the U.S. was the winner. Big thanks to all who entered!

April 24, 2015 at 6:25 amAlmost 6 years ago I met @samantha_hadadi as we were both planning our weddings at the same time. 4 years later I was reading my local newspaper and her name was in there doing a charity bike ride. I realised she lived in the same town as me. I messaged her on twitter and we met in real life days later.
We are such close friends, in fact she’s the bestest friend ever. We speak everyday and I see her at least 2-3times a week. We even started a blog together.
Over the last 2 years she has been my biggest support since I hurt myself and became disabled. She’s been my rock. Other friends have disappeared since I became immobile but Sam has been constant, considerate and caring throughout. She has helped me through some of my darkest moments and we have shared some of the best times where we laugh incessantly together.
She is the bestest friend I could ever wish for.

We actually have met up with some of our Twitter friends in real life, they traveled a few hundred miles to come see us, we had such a lovely day, and we plan to do it again soon. I Never thought We’d ever meet up any one we met via Twitter, but you soon realise you can make genuine friends. I have also followed you since you first joined Twitter Dave, and remember all the prizes you give away when you got to so many followers.

I live in the United Kingdom and she lives in New York, we quickly became friends through Twitter and connected via every other means, namely our blogs. We share our lives, as well as anything that we know the other would appreciate. She recently visited a Mad Men exhibition in NY and knowing that I was a huge fan, she shared a full write up and photos, so I could experience it too. I know that she has, at times, had difficult moments this year, so I would love to surprise her with this!
