One of the biggest surprises for me when I first joined Twitter two years ago was how many truly lovely people I met. I’ve told the story several times that I resisted joining social media as the editors in my city used it to show how fabulous they were. It came across to me as bragging and I didn’t want anything to do with that. Thankfully my friend Heather convinced me to join and I was immediately taken on how many great people are on Twitter. I met Nina Westbury (@ninawmakeup) on Twitter when she won one of my contests. She gave me the wrong address to her house twice!! I discovered the Bridgette Jones of Beauty through social media. She’s become such a dear friend. She makes me laugh so hard with her misadventures and the stories she makes up about me. My favourite was when she told everyone I insisted her son play the harp at our events. There are so many others I’ve met. It would take pages to list them all. But I’m so grateful to have met each of you.
There were so many people who shared their incredible stories below. If you get a chance, read through them. They’re heartwarming. Everyone had a great story. I drew from all entries below and Stacy Bauer from the U.S. was the winner. Big thanks to all who entered!

April 24, 2015 at 7:25 amI met @sueEllen1964 on my Twitter page I use for all my favorite tv shows. I live tweet on (@Love4Fandoms) and she asked me some questions about Criminal Minds. She is blind and didn’t understand what hAppened during a part of the show. Since then we’ve spent many Wednesday nights (and many other times) tweeting our love for that show and many others. She’s sweet & enjoys a good story. I’ve enjoyed the time we’ve talked.

April 24, 2015 at 7:24 amI would have to say you Dave Lackie. I have been on Twiiter for a little over a year and since I found you on Twiitter, I have had so much Fun! I have learned so much about beauty, make-up and recently, the hard work of the designers in creating their packaging! You treat all of us like we are special in so many ways! No matter how busy you are, you respond to our tweets with a kind word! You show your appreciation to your fans with Fabulous Giveaways everyday! I actually found out about you on Twitter through a dear friend of mine on Facebook, Mary Van Til @Racegirl1022. She lives in Daytona Beach, FL and we recently met for the first time here in the Tampa Bay Area and watched your beauty reviews together! She is so sweet and has really been there for me! I lost my Mom a few months ago and she is helping me get through my loss with her kindness and support! Thank You Dave Lackie for everything you do for us on Twitter and all the knowledge about Beauty products you teach us!

April 24, 2015 at 7:20 amThe kindest person I’ve met on Twitter? Would have to be a person who greets & treats everyone with equal kindness, care & generosity, someone who is engaging and wants to make a positive impact in the lives of others. This person would probably become an offline, lifelong friend of mine too, and has! I pick my pal Kristen, on Twitter you would find her at @dineanddish 🙂

April 24, 2015 at 7:05 amI’m going to say @RandomCamille. She used to be my room-mate so many years ago and she loves lotions and potions. Even after 12 odd years or so we’re still friends and she is a wonderful person. I think I most admire that, after losing her mother to cancer she switched career gears completely and got involved. Now she does Comms for the Cancer Society. She saw a need and went for it.
p.s. You and Nina also rock. Never a cross word or to make anyone feel badly. Those are talents.

April 24, 2015 at 6:39 amThat is such a lovely story! I’m also new to twitter as I’m branching out to promote my blog and I have to say that Hayleigh Chamberlain is my online and twitter BFF inspiration!! She is a beauty girl inside and out and runs a lovely blog called Hayls World. She has been so nice to me and we have become social media friends on Fb and twitter and instagram and also on Beauty Bulletin that we both blog on. I’m the only one I know in my town that blogs and it’s soooo beyond nice having her and other friendly genuine people online for support and inspiration!
Check her out on twitter @HaylsWorld and on fb https://m.facebook.com/Haylsblog

April 24, 2015 at 6:31 amI would like to nominate @Debzjs for her standing up for people of all sizes by creating the hashtag #wearethethey
By creating the hashtag, helps those who dont fit into the normal size box a way to speak out and say I AM BEAUTIFUL! We all have a voice and we need to shout and let people know because some people are bigger than other or some are smaller than other doesnt mean we are unhealthy or we dont deserve a place to shop and feel pretty/handsome. We all deserve that right.
Dave Lackie
April 26, 2015 at 7:10 pmI completely agree Kerri. That is something both Nina and I truly believe in. And you’ll see that in our tweets. Everyone is welcome

April 24, 2015 at 6:28 amI’ve met many awesome people on Twitter that I would love to mention but if I have to choose 1 it would be @PTPASharon. When I was going through one of the most difficult times in my life (Kidney Failure) she gathered up her staff and sent out cards of encouragement as well as some help financially and I couldn’t be more grateful for her kindness and generosity towards someone whom she’s never met IRL. She’s a beautiful person inside and out and I think that she deserves something nice sent her way for thinking of others and for being the definition of a true friend.
Dave Lackie
April 26, 2015 at 7:11 pmI’m so sorry to hear that you had kidney failure Jason. So glad you are okay now. That that is such a good example of a true friend. Amazing!

April 24, 2015 at 6:26 amMy amazing daughter and BFF @lipgossgirl http://lipgossiping.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 only recently started a blog and she’s really enjoying it. Not got a huge amount of followers just yet but the main thing is she’s loving writing her posts and receiving the comments. You have to start somewhere after all.
