YSL Couture Kajal 3-In-1 Khol, Eyeliner & Eyeshadow (win them) YSL Beaute’s Couture Kajal definitely makes the top 10 list of most innovative beauty products of Fall 2015. It’s the first time I’ve seen a Khol, eyeliner and eyeshadow in one product – perfect for achieving the neo-grunge look from the catwalks. This kajal crayon allows you to create that dark yet ultra-feminine style.
You can use Couture Kajal three ways. As a precision eyeliner, you can design a strong graphic look. As a khol, you can duplicate what I call the “Bollywood Khol” look from the runways of Paris and Milan. And as an eyeshadow, you can quickly create a smoky eye for evening. Better yet, the crayon is self-sharpening so you don’t need to look for a sharpener every second week. Just apply with the side to keep the point sharp.
“Intensify your eye look by prepping your eyelids for shadow by substituting your usual eye primer with Couture Kajal,” says Lloyd Simmonds, YSL Beaute’s Creative Director of Makeup. “Normal eye bases are generally a neutral shade, providing a slightly wet surface to allow the eye shadow on top to adhere better and therefore last longer. If you use your Couture Kajal instead of the eye base, not only are you preparing it for the eyeshadow on top, but you’ll be adding depth and mystery thanks to its intense dark, deep colours. It’s perfect for a smoky eye look.”
Lloyd says the best way to make a smoky eye look modern is to go for a bold look for the eyes, but play down the finish of your skin, keeping your complexion minimal and going light with your foundation or contouring.
There are four shades to choose from:
No. 1 Noir Ardent: a timeless black shade
No. 2 Bleu Cobalt: subtle navy provides depth and shade.
No. 3 Bleu Petrole: an accent of petrol blue gives a sophisticated compliment to black.
No. 4 Vert Anglais: an opalescent sheen of black infused with deep green.
The giveaway: I gave away a set of YSL Couture Kajal to one lucky reader. I asked readers to tell me their thoughts in a blog post comment below on this new product. Is it something they’d try? I drew one name at random on September 30th from all those who commented. Congrats to Hlelile from South Africa. We drew your name!

September 27, 2015 at 8:19 pmI had my makeup done by a YSL artist at the Bay on Friday night before a concert. She used the Touch Éclat line and then used #1 Noir Ardent on the eyes. The product is weightless and feels good on the skin as are the Touche Éclat products. I think these colours are all lovely and wearable. I didn’t purchase one however I really do like #4 Vert Anglais. I like that it is dark and an alterative to black. I really don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. They are all lovely.

September 27, 2015 at 2:37 pmI like this look. My makeup routine is minimal (lipstick and mascara). I have so wanted to use eyeliner like this. Why not take the plunge using a premier product, this YSL eyeliner.
