New York fashion designer Marc Jacobs and his new beauty licensee Coty have quietly been working on the relaunch of Marc Jacobs Beauty for a full three years. The previous collection created in partnership with LVMH was a global success at Sephora. But when Coty saw an opportunity to take over the partnership, they jumped at it. (Coty produces and markets Marc’s fragrances.) They started from scratch. None of the previous products or formulations were used. The team started from the beginning following Marc’s vision for modern beauty, an inclusive, joyful universe.

The collection launched online at Sephora this week and not surprisingly some items are already sold out. It’s an incredibly good collection with eye-popping packaging that is as fun to look at as it is to use. The stars, daisies and hearts bring to mind Jeff Koombs’ pop art sculptures. The liners, mascara and blush sticks are expected to be bestsellers. But there is another product trending already: Born Star Eyeshadow. Housed in mint green metallic star compacts are 14 shades in matte, metallic and duo chrome finishes. For 2026, he’s designed La Belle Rosea, an aquatic-floral scent for her that layers notes of peony, aquatic accord and vanilla to dazzling effect. These are addictive and alluring scents meant to be noticed. The fragrance is meant to be as beautiful as a faceted precious stone, hence the semi-precious stone on the bottle.
