New Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss ! The Dior Makeup Laboratories in France have made lip colour innovation a priority of late and we’re seeing the results of this effort. Last year, the French fashion house unveiled the first lipstick containing a hydra-gel core that gave the effect of a top coat. It was a global smash.

The follow-up to this innovation is a new generation of hydra-plumper gloss under the Dior Addict banner. It works to deliver maximum shine and volume with a non-sticky finish.

“Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss boasts all these qualities: maximum shine, a non-sticky, barely-there texture, visibly boosted volume that naturally plumps the lips and fresh, easy-to-wear colours,” says Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup. It is the hyaluronic acid spheres that capture and retain surrounding water to give lips a supple, plump shape. These are the latest generation of hyaluronic spheres.

To get the ultra-shine required for this formula, Dior’s chemists used mirror-shine stretch oils for the first time. They create a featherweight film that is supple and light. They create a glossy effect on lips.

What’s new in terms of the colour is the addition of sheer coloured crystal-like pigments that allow light to shine through for vibrant colour. The crystal-handled brush deposits the perfect dose on lips for greater precision and easier application. “Simply use the brush to glide the stretch formula on the lips the way an artist strokes paint across a canvas,” adds Philips. It took time to get the 18 shades the perfect hue. “Shade-by-shade adjustments were necessary to get each colour to stand out.” He says the ‘It Shade’ is 656 Cosmic. Choose from three different light effects: iridescent, sparkling or watery.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is once again the face of this campaign. She was photographed by Craig McDean. “Jennifer has a strong character with a ‘wild’ side that I’m very fond of,” says Philips. “She’s a down-to-earth, spontaneous woman who loves to wear makeup, apply her gloss and play with colours to suit her mood. I can just picture her riding the subway wearing a couture gown.”
