MAC’s Flamingo Park! Spring’s most outrageously fun colour collection launches this month – with pink feathers flying everywhere. MAC’s big spring makeup collection, Flamingo Park, celebrates every shade of sweet pink in an Alice In Wonderland-themed campaign. If you remember Gwen Stefani’s eye-popping video for “What you waiting for” you have the inspiration behind the wildly fun lipstick, nail lacquer, gloss and eyeshadow hues.
“Plunge into the punchy pleasures of pink in a freshly made batch of scrumptious colours that let you have your cake, and wear it too. Glisten pretty on a sunny day with Powder Blush, a fun way to bring delicious colour to your cheeks. Paint it pink and get your just desserts anytime, but be ready to share,” says the press release.
I first saw this collection in October at the MAC headquarters in New York City. The creative team had set up a mammoth display of the campaign in a room complete with Astroturf, big pink flamingo cutouts and trays of pink MAC makeup displayed with cakes, tarts and sugar cookies. What was more exciting was the mockups for the actual MAC counters. They’ll be transformed to this otherworldly garden party during the month of February. The instore display team showed several variations of the theme and what they might do for instore special events. I saw one with patio furniture, fake grass and a cutout of a model who appeared to be a modern day Alice. It will be worth checking out the MAC counters just to see how this all comes to life.
The collection itself is for those who love pink. There is a 9-pan eyeshadow palette called “Flamingo Road” that features a mix of satin, matte and veluxe shadows in lavender, pastel pink and lemon yellow.
Lipstick is always the strength of any MAC collection and these are some of the most flattering pinks I’ve seen.
Saint Germain is a clean pastel pink that is idea for day wear.
Be Silly is matte hot fuchsia pink that reminds me of MAC’s popular Candy Yum-Yum.
Powder blush takes center stage in this collection with no less than six different shades. I like the purity of Let’s Be Friends a blue hot-pink satin blush.
Petit Indulgence Cremesheen Glass is a bright blue-pink gloss that will work through to autumn.
And look at this edgy addition to the collection: Technakohl Liner in Purple Dash, an intense aubergine. So fun!
MAC’s Flamingo Road launches February 4th. Expect is to sell out quickly. So if you love an item, don’t wait too long.
