Hands down my favourite beauty collection theme of 2015 is MAC’s hilarious Haute Dogs. The idea for the canine-inspired line came from James Gager, MAC’s Creative Director. He and his partner have a pampered poodle and discussions of how men and women start to resemble their pets turned into the fall collection. (I still think the model in the center looks just like a young Kelly Osborne.) It is actually MAC’s most wearable Autumn offering in years with buttery golds, regal berries and soft beiges.
The press kit says it all: “(Wo)man’s best friend is barking up the right tree in a well-groomed collection of new canine-inspired hues from MAC. From aristocratic to collars-ff cool, shades of every pooch are perched to prime your every mood. With Haute Dog, you’ll be lapping up accolades as best in show.” The entire collection is well done but these are my editor picks.
Mineralize Glass in Lap Dog
This is arguably the best nude gloss of the season – a pale light pink-nude
Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Fashion Pack
This pale pinky-nude is a beautiful neutral lipstick. Finding a great nude lipstick isn’t as easy as it seems. This is a flattering shade. If you like it, stock up.
Mineralize Eyeshadow x 4 in A Glimmer of Gold
Four perfect day shadows ranging from soft gold to copper brown.
MAC Studio Lacquer in Very Important Poodle
If you’ve stocked up on deep merlot and rich red nail lacquers, this warm mid-tone nude will round out your collection nicely.
Duo Fibre Eye Shader Brush
Get the most from your eye shadow collection with a really great quality brush. Bobbi Brown always says that the key to great makeup is good quality brushes.
MAC Cosmetics is available in Canada online at thebay.com and at select Hudson’s Bay stores.
