    Dolce Blue Jasmine is the latest fragrance launch Dolce Blue Jasmine is the latest fragrance launch from Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana. This charming fragrance marries the sweetness of Sicilian blue figs with the sensuality of jasmine sambac. Perfumer Alexandra Carlin immersed herself in the Mediterranean landscapes of Italy where she led an olfactory journey. She was fascinated by a blue fig orchard in the Sicilian countryside and was able to capture the blue fig’s milky aroma including the watery facets of its leaves using Headspace technology. She then found blooming jasmine with its sensual character. Both were wrapped in a smooth woody base. The resulting scent is housed in the Dolce bottle with a pale blue flower cap. #davelackiebeauty

    It’s no surprise to learn that the late fashion It’s no surprise to learn that the late fashion designer Paco Rabanne began his career, not as a fashion designer, but as an architect. In fact, he worked for an architectural firm for four years before moving into the world of fashion by crafting those 12 iconic metal dresses in 1966 that took the world by storm. Dubbed, “metal couture”, those dresses were perfectly balanced with impeccable silhouettes that were feats of design for their simplicity. And while he gained notoriety for his space-age style, he never considered himself a futurist. His work would become so influential that he would receive the Legion of Honour towards the end of his life. Paco’s legacy continues this month with the debut of two new fragrances under the ‘Million Gold’ name. The brand, now streamlined to simply ‘Rabanne’, Million Gold for Her, a floral-woody-musk fragrance for her comes housed in a multi-faceted bottle accented with the famous Rabanne XL Link. Inspired by the boat chains of Brittany, a place that has inspired both Paco Rabanne and Julien Dossena, the XL Link features a series of interlaced large and small links within La Maison’s signature jewellery pieces. What’s interesting about the fragrance itself is the contrasting masculine and feminine notes. Lavender with the creamy side Tonkalactone; rose with its metallic side; moss for its very masculine aspect; and vanilla with its musky side. It’s a perfectly balanced composition – just like a Rabanne dress. #davelackiebeauty

    When I first started my career in beauty journalis When I first started my career in beauty journalism, fragrance houses would launch different intensities of the same scent. You could get an eau de toilette which was light. An eau de parfum was a stronger concentration of the EDT. And the parfum was the strongest and longest-lasting version. This has all changed in 2024. Designer brands are reworking the scents for the stronger intensities. They are actually new fragrances. Take Dolce and Gabbana’s Devotion for example. The original floral-gourmand, which debuted last year, featured an candied Italian citrus top note. This was layered over orange blossom and Madagascar vanilla. For the brand new Devotion Eau de Parfum Intense, the designers have replaced the candied citrus with sweet hazelnut. It’s a deeper, richer interpretation of the original. (Think of those decadent Italian hazelnut spreads and you get the idea) One perfumer explained it to me this way: “It’s like a song. You keep the basic melody but you add a few different effects and instruments.” If you love sweet gourmand fragrances, this is for you. #davelackiebeauty

New York fashion designer Tory Burch has just unveiled Sublime, an addictive floral-leather scent for her that took in excess of two years to create. The results are spectacular. Perfumers Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Christine Hassan layer notes of mandarin, urban ivy accord, peach, rose, osmanthus absolute and magnolia over a tethered leather accord, patchouli and vetiver essence. “Sublime is the ultimate way you want to feel: confident, bold, sensual,” explains Tory. “It is a word and an emotion that has no ending…It makes you feel like anything is possible.” She says unexpected notes create a unique, sexy dimension: the alchemy of leather blended with delicate rose, osmanthus flower, earthy vetiver and bright mandarin. “Sublime is beautiful, it’s sexy, it’s confident,” adds Kendall Jenner, the face of the new scent. “I love what Tory does and what she stands for. I want to align with designers who feel genuinely right to me, and this felt natural and organic.” What’s interesting about the sculptural bottle is that it is refillable or can be used as a vase. It’s an abstract interpretation of Tory Burch’s iconic Double T logo, turned into a curvilinear glass silhouette. The fragrance arrives in store and online this month. It’s definitely a must-try.
