There was never an unnecessary detail or flourish in any garment or product he created. He started with the finest fabrics and raw materials and designed clean lines and beautifully functional collections. I had the pleasure of working with his men’s wear design team years ago and I can tell you he insisted on perfection. Mr. Armani, as they called him, approved absolutely every element that carried his name including fragrance and beauty. He was truly unique and is sadly missed. Named Dolce & Gabbana Your Devotion Eau de Parfum Intense, this composition give the globally bestselling Devotion fragrance a fruity twist to the gourmand original. The scent opens with a vibrant splash of Sicilian melon and zesty mandarin which blends beautifully with orange blossom and gardenia. The dry down contains notes of Madagascar vanilla, milk, sandalwood and oakmoss. It was created by Master perfumer Olivier Cresp. Professional pickers choose blooms that are just beginning to fully open rather than old or faded blossoms. Each petal is placed in a breathable bag or container and kept out of direct sunlight so they stay fresh. This is actually very skilled work with professionals paid a very good salary for their flower picking. I could tell she holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University from the questions she asked: smart, interesting and well-researched. For so many years, the world of perfumery was shrouded in mystery. The inner workings of perfume houses was a well-kept secret.
