Haute Dogs

Sometimes beauty takes itself way too seriously. Which is why I love the witty themes MAC dreams up each season. There is always one laugh-out-loud collection. And for autumn 2015, it is “Haute Dogs”. Here is the press description of the limited edition colour collection of eyeshadows, lipglass and lipsticks: (Wo)man’s best friend is barking up the right tree in a well-groomed collection of new canine-inspired hues from MAC, featuring luscious, buttery fur tones, gold-spun sculpting powders, and regal berries for lips. From aristocratic to collars-off cool, shades of every pooch are perched to prime your every mood. With Haute Dogs, you’ll be lapping up accolades as best in show! The Onion couldn’t have written a more witty description.

The brainchild behind this canine cosmetic celebration is James Gager, Creative Director for MAC. He and his partner have a pampered pooch at home and that was what sparked the idea for the collection.

Once you get past the hilarious images, this is MAC’s most wearable fall collection in years. There are lots of warm browns with golden undertones, cocoas and burgundy-plum accents.

“Pure Bred” is a Mineralize Eyeshadow x 4 that features plum, silver cream, tan-gold and deep brown. “Posh Pedigree” has deep olive green, white lemon, dirty grey and charcoal greenish-grey. All easy-to-wear colours.

“Modest” just may be the season’s nude “it colour.” It’s a soft beige with just a hint of frost.

“Lap Dog” is a pale light pink-nude. And ‘Labradorable’ is a dramatic deep wine.

Haute Dogs launches on August 20^th at MAC counters including Hudson’s Bay stores and thebay.com
