“Adding colour to your lips is the quickest and easiest way to play with your looks. But don’t forget that lipstick is the one makeup item that requires the most touching up. You should therefore apply it carefully from the beginning.” – Dick Page
The Challenge: How to perfect the new generation of lipstick
The Danger: Colour that won’t stay put
The Expert: Dick Page, Creative Director, Shiseido Makeup
The Technique: “Before you start, apply a nourishing and moisturizing lip protector and blot away any excess. This is a tip pro-makeup artists use to make lipstick last. Well-moisturized lips will repay your efforts as the contours will stay sharply defined. Your lipstick will look more luminous throughout the day and evening.
The Application: “To define your lips, first smile. For a natural look, start from the centre of your lips and work to the edges. If you’re note sure, try it the other direction. You’ll see!
Use a lip liner: “Using a lip liner is a guaranteed way to increase the lasting power of a lipstick. Two-in-one items now exist that create clean lines and add full, deep colour.”
Make it last: “To keep lipstick and even gloss lasting as long as possible, fill in the colour by sketching the surface of your lips with the liner. If the pencil is dense enough, your can even use it alone to add colour.”

February 18, 2015 at 10:03 pmI have a question. How in the heck do you get your lipstick from getting on your teeth? My signature lipstick is RED, and I don’t like looking like a vampire because i am CONSTANTLY having to wipe my teeth. I have tried a gazillion different brands, and I do all the tricks listed above and MORE! But how can I possibly keep my lipstick on my lips instead of as my dessert. Just because I love cherries, doesn’t mean I want to eat cherry lipstick.
