One of the biggest surprises for me when I first joined Twitter two years ago was how many truly lovely people I met. I’ve told the story several times that I resisted joining social media as the editors in my city used it to show how fabulous they were. It came across to me as bragging and I didn’t want anything to do with that. Thankfully my friend Heather convinced me to join and I was immediately taken on how many great people are on Twitter. I met Nina Westbury (@ninawmakeup) on Twitter when she won one of my contests. She gave me the wrong address to her house twice!! I discovered the Bridgette Jones of Beauty through social media. She’s become such a dear friend. She makes me laugh so hard with her misadventures and the stories she makes up about me. My favourite was when she told everyone I insisted her son play the harp at our events. There are so many others I’ve met. It would take pages to list them all. But I’m so grateful to have met each of you.
There were so many people who shared their incredible stories below. If you get a chance, read through them. They’re heartwarming. Everyone had a great story. I drew from all entries below and Stacy Bauer from the U.S. was the winner. Big thanks to all who entered!

She works tirelessly for causes in her local area, trying to get communities working together for greater things and coming together to find resources. She’s recently returned from Africa, a mission with her church, where she has spent time with her sponsored “daughter”. Her photos and blogs have literally left me with tears tumbling down my face – happy tears tho! I have to also say though, I have made a couple of enquiries through your site, and have been blown away by how accessible you and your team are. Just how it should be – no hierarchy, no pretence just good honest open communication with your followers. Love it!

April 29, 2015 at 2:42 amTwitter has introduced me to a lot of amazing people. Fellow bloggers, media people, magazine writers, stylists were a given due to my work. But what surprised me are the people I got to know away from my field. A writer of ghost stories (that he narrates to his adorable 6 year old), a traveler who hitchhikes across India and has the best pictures ever, a political PR person with a passion and clear line of thinking like no other, football enthusiasts, sweet sweet people, and of course, you! Each of these person has helped me personally grow and connect with a sweet spot in my own soul. However, the ONE person I met on twitter that I totally cannot live without now is @indianshringar. A mini celeb, and a successful YouTuber, she’s a warm and genuine lady who responds to each and every tweet written to her. What started as a chance following for me ended up with meeting her up and now we regularly talk. I have immense love for Dollie and respect for what she does too.
