One of the biggest surprises for me when I first joined Twitter two years ago was how many truly lovely people I met. I’ve told the story several times that I resisted joining social media as the editors in my city used it to show how fabulous they were. It came across to me as bragging and I didn’t want anything to do with that. Thankfully my friend Heather convinced me to join and I was immediately taken on how many great people are on Twitter. I met Nina Westbury (@ninawmakeup) on Twitter when she won one of my contests. She gave me the wrong address to her house twice!! I discovered the Bridgette Jones of Beauty through social media. She’s become such a dear friend. She makes me laugh so hard with her misadventures and the stories she makes up about me. My favourite was when she told everyone I insisted her son play the harp at our events. There are so many others I’ve met. It would take pages to list them all. But I’m so grateful to have met each of you.
There were so many people who shared their incredible stories below. If you get a chance, read through them. They’re heartwarming. Everyone had a great story. I drew from all entries below and Stacy Bauer from the U.S. was the winner. Big thanks to all who entered!

I have to say that since following the two of you I have become much more open to trying new things with my beauty routine. Two years ago I didn’t wear anything but lip balm on my lips, now I have everything from nudes to bold reds, even some shades of purple and orange! Sadly she left twitter early last year for personal reasons. But she is the nicest person on the planet, she understands from the typing of a tweet exactly what the person is going through and knows when to ask is there something up. She kept up to date with people through twitter and gave so many the help they needed. She really deserves this prize more than I do for just being the caring, loving girl she is. She really is the true essence of a best friend from the perfect qualities to her supportive and motivational phone calls when things are tough…. Love this girl with all my heart and soul. X

At an early age if she met a child with a handicap, she would tell me that they are special and be extra kind to them. She is in college studying to be a pediatric oncology nurse to give it back. @andreama13
