Dolce & Gabbana’s spectacular fruit scent collection debuts.
Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is celebrating its Sicilian roots with a trio of collector fragrances that boast jaw-dropping bottles. It’s called the Fruit Collection and each scent is inspired by a fruit favoured in Southern Italy: lemon, orange and pineapple. The cap of each flacon was inspired by marzipan futta di martonara, mouthwatering sugar confections that decorate the windows of every pasticcerie in the south of Italy. Sugar artists hand-shape coloured sugar to look like lemons, limes, pineapples and even flowers. That bottles themselves are works of art that would look charming lined up in a kitchen.
“Dolce & Gabbana Beauty pays tribute to Sicily and its treasures. From the Conca d’Oro’s renowned orchards – the Golden Horn of Plenty that fringes the bay of Palermo, rooted in rich volcanic earth – to the island’s artisanal culture and the maiolica ceramics, which turn every plate, façade or staircase into a colourful work of art,” says the official press release. The Fruit Collection from Dolce&Gabbana Beauty brings a vibrant burst of joy, evoking the simple pleasure of biting into a lush and ripe fruit, sweetened by the Sicilian sun. Vivacious yet sophisticated, each fragrance conjures an abundance of olfactory delight in a bottle that is a pleasure to the eye.
This fruit-themed collection complements the brand’s summer ready-to-wear collection that featured tropical fruit prints throughout.
Pineapple: an exotic fruity gourmand scent
Pineapples, a sign of hospitality and welcome, arrived in Sicily centuries ago and was quickly adopted into the country’s architecture and artwork. Perfumer Marie Salamagne beautifully captures the sweet tang of pineapple while adding mandarin, orange flower and a hint of orchid. It is a sweet treat.
Lemon: a solar fruity-fresh scent
If you’ve ever walked through the markets of Sicily in the summer months, you are sure to remember the refreshing scent of lemon. Perfumer Jerome Epinette captures this scent in this solar-fresh fragrance. He too uses a little orange flower and adds bergamot and vetiver.
Orange: a playful fruity-floral scent
Sicily is renowned for its orange groves and this scent captures that sweet aroma. Add in some spice, uplifting flowers and amber and you have an ideal summer scent.
