So it looks like this Clarins limited edition summer 2024 Sun Powder Bronzing Compact is only available in Europe. But it is so beautiful, I had to show it on my IG timeline. This year’s edition features an astral motif with shooting stars and a dazzling constellation in gold and bronze. A quick dusting with a powder brush creates a subtly tanned, even and radiant complexion. What makes Clarins’ formulas different is the addition of skincare ingredients. Michael Edwards is considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on fragrance. Through-out his 40-year career in perfumery, he and his team have classified and matched over 50,000 fragrances, family-by-family, scent-by-scent. He was the first to classify fragrances into olfactory families making it easier for consumers to understand and enjoy scents. His olfactory wheel and system of perfumery has been used by thousands and thousands of fragrance associates around the world as key training and education.
So it is no surprise that the fragrance industry is excited to learn of a new book by Edwards, this one chronicling the evolution of fragrance in America. Entitled American Legends, this fascinating book traces the evolution of American fragrances from 1752 until today. It’s so impressive that Leonard A. Lauder himself, agree to write a forward. It was officially launched at the World Perfumery Congress.
Readers will get a true insider access thanks to exclusive interviews with many of the perfumers who formulated iconic American fragrances. We can’t overstate how special this is – perfumers rarely share their experiences and inspirations. You’ll read about Elizabeth Arden’s Blue Grass (1934) to Le Labo’s Santal 33 (2011), a total of 40 important American perfumes.

I honestly think this is their very best colour collection each year with golden, bronzed and sandy hues that flatter almost every skin tone. This palette features nine beach-toned eyeshadows (in shimmer, matte and demi matte finishes) and a highlighter. Beautifully done. Dutch fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, better known as Viktor & Rolf have reworked their award-winning Flowerbomb fragrance with a tropical twist. This month sees the debut of Flowerbomb Tiger Lily, an exotic fruity-floral fragrance for her with a solar facet. This new scent blends notes of radiant coconut milk, fresh bergamot citrus, juicy mango and sweet benzoin. A bouquet of jasmine, freesia and tiger lily add a feminine character. Tiger lily can be a very assertive ingredient with a strong powdery smell. But this tiger lily accord calms down the strength and balances it with the other blooms. It’s a nice summer-themed scent with a beautiful orange-hued colour. #davelackiebeauty

Here’s a new fragrance collection that just laun

Here’s a new fragrance collection that just launched at Sephora that has a fascinating backstory. Fresh Cosmetics co-founders Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg opened a bohemian-themed, 11-room boutique hotel in Hudson, New York several years ago when, after extensive travels, they felt like a highly curated hotel experience that bridged hospitality, lifestyle and fragrance was missing. The resulting artistic hotel features a mix of vintage, one-of-a-kind antique pieces, restored heirlooms and new pieces of furniture and art creating a cozy and warm ambience. Condé Nast Traveler magazine reviewed it as: “You don’t just stay at the hotel, you can take the hotel home with you.”

Fragrance played a big part of the hotel’s experience from the start with a series of clean, gender-inclusive fragrances with a modern and sophisticated character. Lev Glazman designed the scents with rich, sultry notes amplified by arousing pheromones for undeniably sensual scents. They remind me a little of Malin & Goetz’s fragrances. The star eau de parfum is Lover, a warm woody scent with notes of creamy sandalwood, luscious fig, vetiver, jasmine, narcissus, and a hint of oud.
