Best Winter Palette for blue & brown eyes (win it) When it comes to finding a great neutral eyeshadow palette, the best shades can come in the most unexpected designs. Take Burberry’s Winter 2016 Runway Palette for example. It was directly inspired by Christopher Bailey’s “Patchwork, Pattern and Prints” Autumn/Winter runway show. He actually created this palette with UK makeup artist Wendy Rowe when designing the fashion collection. He calls it “effortless elegance” and the goal was to offer a palette that was both beautiful to look at and very easy to use.

“The camo pattern is a nod to the classic Burberry trench coat as that was influenced by the military too. (Thomas Burberry began by creating trench coats for the British military.) But this is a classic palette of amazing neutral shades,” says celebrity makeup artist Nina Westbury. “The palette is matte so women of any age can feel comfortable wearing it. I actually wore it with some MAC shimmer on top.” She says it would also look amazing over a Dior Mono Fusion eyeshadow which would boost the pigments in the palette.

Nina has designed a special face chart for those with brown eyes. Here is how to use the Burberry Winter 2016 palette to create a simple smoky eye. You’ll notice she’s used the buttercream shade as a base then added the Forest Green and finished with the Black.

On this second face chart for those with blue eyes, you’ll see that Nina has once again used the Buttercream shade as a base. She’s placed the Forest Green towards the outer edge of the eyelid and shaded in a little. She’s accented with the black in the outer corners. This opens the eyes beautifully.

5 Ways to use the Burberry Winter 2016 Palette
Use them individually as neutrals. The easiest way to use this eye palette is to use each of the three shades individually. The matte textures are flattering on all ages and each to apply.
Use the Butter Cream shade to tone down any bright eyeshadow. If your eyeshadow is looking too strong, a quick dusting of this shade will instantly bring the colour intensity down. It is a great way to solve any eyeshadow colour problem.
Use the black as a liner. A fine line of the black shadow will work perfectly as an eyeliner. Just remember to set with a tiny bit of powder.
Smoky khaki for evening. If you are a little bored with the traditional smoky grey or black eye, switch it up with khaki green. It is a very flattering colour and will give you a subtle look at is fresh and new.
A new neutral. Update your nude makeup look by using the Butter Cream shade as a base and adding a hint of the khaki green on the upper lid. Blend well to create a very natural look for day.
Of course, this palette is a collectible piece. There will be beauty collectors who will buy it and keep it in their collections for the design and the fact that it mirrored the Fall/Winter runway show.
