Best Pink Lipsticks
In any beauty collection, pink lipsticks and gloss are always the top sellers. That’s because pink is easy to wear and flatters so many skin tones. After a season of red lip after red lip on the catwalk for fall, we decided to take an in-depth look at the best pink lipsticks on the market. These shades: from subtle to bold, offer good quality and performance. These are the products the pro makeup artists reach for in their makeup cases.
MAC Lipstick in Snob
Snob has turned into one of MAC’s best-selling lipsticks. It is sold out in Brazil where it is a cult classic already. Snob looks wonderful on darker skin tones and really flatters anyone with a tan. Pop it in your bag on your next beach vacation.
Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Baby Pink
If you prefer the nude makeup trend, you’ll want a pinky-beige lipstick that is closer to your skin tone. This shade is a best-seller. It’s easy to wear and looks polished for work or weekend.
Michael Kors Sexy Bombshell Lip Lacquer
The name says it all. This is the alternative to the bold red lip. A vibrant pink lip looks particularly great with spring’s soft prints. Just be sure to apply a lip primer or balm first to ensure your lips are perfectly smooth. This shade of lipstick looks best on a smooth lip.
Rouge Dior in Swan
Swan may not get the same attention as Rouge 999, but this is arguably the perfect nude pink shade. Not only does it nourish and hydrate lips, it helps to shape them perfectly. This is a pink essential.
Guerlain KissKiss Shaping Cream Lip Colour in Baby Rose
KissKiss is one of luxury beauty’s best-kept secrets. The quality of these lipsticks is very high and the new black lacquer packaging is incredible. This pinky-brown shade, called Baby Rose, gives just the right amount of depth to the lips while moisturizing all day.
Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturizing Matte Lipstick in Pink Pucker
If you haven’t looked at Arden makeup in a while, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The American beauty brand has reformulated all its lipsticks in brand new packaging. Pink Pucker is a beautiful shade for day. This is a very versatile shade. You can also layer lipstick over gloss. Just pat the gloss with a tissue. You’ll find a little of the shine will come through the lipstick giving it some added depth.
YSL Rouge Volupte in #7 Lingerie Pink
YSL’s Rouge Volupte is the most beautiful lipstick packaging I’ve ever seen. It’s a work of art. And the formula inside lives up to the packaging. Lingerie Pink is a best-seller and you can see why. It’s a soft shade that gives you just the right amount of colour. It’s a perfect product for the current trend to nude makeup.
Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Matte Magenta
If you look for a rich, creamy texture to your lipsticks, then Clinique’s Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks are for you. This bold magenta is a statement colour. This lipstick looks incredible if you wear a completely black and white outfit. Using this one colour as an accent will turn heads.
Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in Fall in Rose
Fall in Rose is a vibrant, uplifting pink that isn’t too over-the-top. It’s strong enough to be the focus of your makeup, but not one that requires a lot of confidence to pull off.
Chanel Rouge Coco in Ina
I call this a French chic pink. It’s bright and happy. It is a great alternative to those you love wearing a red lip. The intensity and tone are similar to the most popular red lipsticks. It’s a nice alternative to red.
Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Ballet
Celebrity makeup artist Dick Page, who works with Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs during New York Fashion Week, designed this deeper shade of pink lipstick. It’s a beautiful shade that will flatter most skin tones.
5 Pink Lipstick Tips
- Brush your lips:
A bold pink lipstick looks best on smooth lips. Gently brush your lips with a dry, soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any dry skin. This will give you an even canvas on which to apply your lipstick.
- Apply a lip primer:
If you want your lipstick to last longer, apply a lip primer like Guerlain’s KissKiss Lip Lift Primer. This product conditions and hydrates lips. You’ll find your lipstick will last up to two hours longer before needing a touch up.
- Find your shade:
“The most versatile pink you’ll find is one or two shades darker than your natural lip colour,” says New York Makeup Artist Bobbi Brown. This is the lipstick you’ll reach for day-to-day.
- Use a universal lip liner:
If you find your lipstick bleeds by the end of the day, line them first with a skin-toned lip liner. It will fill any fine lines and keep the lipstick in place.
- Toss any outdated lipsticks:
Lipsticks will generally last 12 months from the date your purchased it. But if you keep them in a bag under hot summer sun, they will tend to spoil faster. If you notice a funny smell or a change in consistency, it is time to replace them.
