Guerlain unveils an artistic collaboration of the highest quality.
Guerlain x Maison Matisse
Long-time fans of luxury beauty brand Guerlain will know that the beloved French company has hosted some remarkable artistic collaborations over the years. The multi-year Terracotta limited edition collections with Pucci remain some of the best packaging to date. What makes them special is that the Guerlain team works tirelessly to translate the character and vision of both brands into fragrance and beauty products. Throughout the years, generations of Guerlain perfumers have been inspired by avant-garde artists of their time, and have looked to them to help inspire and enhance their creations.
This spring sees another remarkable collaboration, this time with the estate of painter Henri Matisse. Maison Matisse, a design house founded by family members of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and the sublime master of colour dubbed the “Painter of Happiness” has worked with Guerlain for a limited edition that expresses the joy and colour of Matisse. Founded in 2019 by Jean-Matthieu Matisse, the painter’s great-grandson, as a way to celebrate and share the daring values of this versatile artist, Maison Matisse offers decorative objects and furniture designed by emerging and renowned contemporary designers.
To start, Guerlain perfumers have composed Couleur Bonheur, a modern fruity chypre fragrance filled with olfactory colours as sunny and bright as the artist’s palette. This precious perfume extract will be exclusive to the Maison Matisse Bee Bottle.
Meanwhile, for the L’Art & La Matière collection, the partnership has led to a further three special editions. Hearts, jasmine blossoms and leaves come together alongside an exclusive olfactory masterpiece inspired by the 1950 artwork, “The Thousand and One Nights”, to create Guerlain’s new Jasmin Bonheur fragrance complete with stunning decorative plate.
The NEW Jasmin Bonheur expresses a colourful jasmine tinted with joyous nuances – radiant orange with an apricot note, vibrant violet with powdery iris and tender pink with rose – for which the Guerlain perfumer Daphne Jelk drew inspiration from the dazzling palette of Henri Matisse. It’s a perfect picture of happiness expressed in scent. She takes jasmine and floods it with sunshine.
“I created a wonderfully elegant jasmine by tinting this white flower with joyful tones, just like Matisse, a painter who expressed the art of happiness so masterfully.” – Guerlain perfumer Daphne Jelk
Artistic Editions in Collaboration with Maison Matisse
Faithfully inspired by Henri Matisse’s painting, the artwork developed by Maison Matisse exclusively for Guerlain is designed as an olfactory portrait that turns Jasmin Bonheur and Figue Azur into editions of true artistry.
Its vibrant design is also echoed on an edition of the Figue Azur candle.

March 14, 2023 at 8:40 amThis takes me back to when I was a kid and I was looking at my mom‘s perfume bottles on her dresser. I have such good memories of giving my mom a hug and loving her scent. Your collection is very pretty.

March 3, 2023 at 4:53 amOh what a read, from the start to the finish of this fragrance. Not only do I look for the fragrance notes I like but the bottle design is very important to me. However I have stopped displaying them (however expensive) I keep them close away in their boxes, this on the advice from you!
