YSL’s must-have collector bottle!

Each summer, fragrance houses come out with summer editions of their most popular scents. Calvin Klein updates its Eternity franchise each April with beach-inspired packaging; Dolce & Gabbana offer their Mediterranean vacation scents; and Jean-Paul Gaultier dresses his Classique bottle in palm leaves and peacocks. Each is a little work of art.

But summer 2015 belongs to YSL’s spectacular Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition scent. It’s a younger, fresher interpretation of the original eau de toilette scent boasting notes of wild rose, violet leaf, neroli, peony, lily-of-the-valley, white musk and sandalwood.

The packaging and bottle design are the brainchild of Japanese artist Que Houxo who studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo.

He boasts an ultra-modern method of painting. He projects fluorescent painting on the walls, splashing flowers and using a specific light to reveal their intense colours.

It’s in effect, an explosion of fluorescent flowers dancing under UV lights. A handful of trend experts have identified Houxo as a rising star in the art world.

YSL Paris Premieres Roses Limited Edition arrives exclusively at Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada in mid-April.

@clairemeakin1 the bottle would attract me to try the perfume but I would only buy a perfume for its fragrance. This bottle is very summary so I would be attracted to try it if I was looking for a holiday perfume

An attractive bottle draws me in to give a new perfume a try. I like to have a variety of scents on hand so I can select the one that fits my mood and attitude for the day or evening ahead!

I’ve never buy a perfume based on the bottle design only, but I like to collect my perfume bottles, my mom also does! This YSL looks nice to collect too thanks for the chance Dave. @chk_kari

When I buy perfume as gifts, I usually have to pick at random and therefore I do often buy based on appearance of bottle.

I have bought perfumes for the bottle but not for myself. My SO loves bottles! I’ve bought him many fragrances just for the bottle.

The bottle design is one of the factors I consider but not the only one. It truly helps when buying perfume as a gift for my wife. (find me on Twitter @iqster)

I have absolutely bought a fragrance for the bottle. Ive recently purchased HERMES for the bottle and the fragrance was unisex love perfume bottles…full and empty. I also bought Salvador Dali because I so loved the iconnic sculptures that Dali does the bottle was shaped as a face it was absolutely amazing and for keep sake! Fingers crossed! Would love to win this!

I have not bought a perfume, just based on the bottle. That’s not to say, I have never been tempted. I adore perfumes (and their bottles) and I love to keep them on display on my dresser. My sister and I frequently look at my perfumes haha 🙂

Yes. I have bought several brands solely on bottle design before. Versace VS series…Jean Paul Guiterrie’s Jeans collection…and the Sex In The City varieties were awesome, to briefly name a few. This bottles design is very bright. I like it alot. And the fragrant notes sound beatifully put together.

No, I haven’t never bought perfume based solely on the bottle design, but I do have a lovely collection that belonged to my grandmother and I know she would have adored your unique design. It would be wonderful to win this contest, especially with the drawing being on the 16th, that day is special for me as it is my late Grandfather’s and my late Dad’s birthdays. Maybe that will bring me the special luck I need to be the lucky lady to win. Thank you, Sherry 🙂
