Backstory: YSL is the buzz-worthy brand in Asia right now and that excitement has rippled around the world in the past 12 months. Last year’s holiday collection completely sold out in a couple of days. That’s because two hugely influential bloggers in Asia posted stories about it. That was all it took to cause a sensation at YSL counters. Expect a similar response this year thanks to a beautifully executed makeup collection with firework motifs and flattering shades. This is the brand to watch for holiday.

Star product: The multi-use palette allows you to highlight your cheeks with a rosy pink blush infused with platinum pearls for a seductive holiday glow. Four shades of sparkling effervescent eye colour ranges from silver-grey to rose gold. And two hues of lip colour finish off the look: a light rose and a deep red. It is classic YSL.

Collector items: You’ll notice the Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks and Touche Eclat are embossed with a fireworks motif that looks particularly impressive when pulled out of a bag at a holiday dinner or party.
