When it comes to collector makeup palettes, YSL Beauté is one of my all-time favourite brands. I love the creativity, the colour choices and the quality of the formulas. Each season, Tom Pescheux, creative director of makeup for the brand, offers some truly exciting palettes and products. I once had the pleasure of interviewing one of the YSL makeup product developers from France and it was fascinating to hear how they come up with new formulas each season. They often look to other industries for cutting-edge technologies. The candy/confection industry has led to innovative new textures and finishes in eye and lip products.

This Couture Colour Clutch Collector Eye Palette is outstanding. It starts with a palette adorned with a red and black baby leopard print and the famous YSL Cassandra logo (designed in 1961). There is a hint of glitter to the red animal print that adds a sense of glamour.

Inside, you’ll find ten new eyeshadow shades created exclusively for this palette. There is a variety of textures: matte, pearl, satin and metallic – to suit every occasion and mood. The saturated colours are designed to be worn alone or buildable for added impact. Even better, the colours have been tested on a wide range of skin tones so they will flatter almost everyone.
