YSL’s Fall 2018 Colour Collection is an ode to the colour purple.
Anticipation has been building over the past 12 months as celebrity makeup artist Tom Pecheux prepared his debut colour collection for YSL Beauty. He’s the new Global Beauty Director for the brand and is renowned for his catwalk makeup looks for fashion weeks in New York, Paris, London and Milan. He’s known for reinterpreting looks and making them modern for new generations.
For his debut collection, Yconic Purple, Pecheux turned to one of his favourite colours: purple. From the first runway show in 1962 to the recent years, the colour purple has played a key role within the world of YSL.
It’s a colour of power, intensity and femininity. Tom chose to balance the strong shade with ethereal peaches, pristine white, sophisticated nudes and dark night shades.
Couture Palette Collector: A Statement of Pure Colour
This season’s collector palette features the bold “Y-shape” embossed in glitter with the iconic YSL Cassandra logo. Inside, the soft lilac shadow is paired with a rusty warm shimmery shade that looks like soft, faded leather. Apply the purple across the eyelid, then illuminate with the rusty-brown under the eye. It will open up the eyes and bring drama to your look. The blue black expresses a sense of daring and works beautifully as a liner. The pristine white is the ideal accent. Better yet, Tom ensured these colours would work on all skin tones.
This might just be the most fun beauty product of the season: Couture chalks for eyes, cheeks and lips. There are four shades that can be worn on their own or mixed and matched. Apply directly with your finger or use a brush.
Le Noir is a black shade used to define eyes or blended over a lip colour to darken.
Le Nude is a pale beige with a hint of gold which can be used as a highlighter under the eye, on cheekbones or as a lip colour.
Le Cuivre is a flattering shimmering bronze for eyes, to highlight cheeks or on lips.
And Le Rouge is a classic red for lips and cheeks.
Couture Blush and Couture Highlighter
Think of this as a next generation blush: powders infused in water which helps the formula melt into skin for a natural effect. There is a powderless finish that makes the colour look like it is part of your complexion. In a distinctive gold compact, the blush is pressed into the shape of the famous YSL mini-clutch.
