On Monday, Mr. Lauren will celebrate his 85th year having created one of the world’s truly iconic fashion and lifestyle brands. I had the honour of interviewing him years ago during New York Fashion Week and he was one of the most fascinating designers I’ve ever spoken with. He really approaches every single collection and product as a film director. He told me he imagines the customers in his mind, envisions their lives and then designs products to suit their lifestyle. It’s almost cinematic the way he speaks. He’s definitely introduced a collection of iconic fragrances throughout his career including the 1980s blockbuster Polo Green. It still smells incredible to this day. #davelackiebeauty

This charming fragrance marries the sweetness of Sicilian blue figs with the sensuality of jasmine sambac. Perfumer Alexandra Carlin immersed herself in the Mediterranean landscapes of Italy where she led an olfactory journey. She was fascinated by a blue fig orchard in the Sicilian countryside and was able to capture the blue fig’s milky aroma including the watery facets of its leaves using Headspace technology. She then found blooming jasmine with its sensual character. Both were wrapped in a smooth woody base. The resulting scent is housed in the Dolce bottle with a pale blue flower cap. #davelackiebeauty

It’s no surprise to learn that the late fashion It’s no surprise to learn that the late fashion designer Paco Rabanne began his career, not as a fashion designer, but as an architect. In fact, he worked for an architectural firm for four years before moving into the world of fashion by crafting those 12 iconic metal dresses in 1966 that took the world by storm. Dubbed, “metal couture”, those dresses were perfectly balanced with impeccable silhouettes that were feats of design for their simplicity. And while he gained notoriety for his space-age style, he never considered himself a futurist. His work would become so influential that he would receive the Legion of Honour towards the end of his life. Paco’s legacy continues this month with the debut of two new fragrances under the ‘Million Gold’ name. The brand, now streamlined to simply ‘Rabanne’, Million Gold for Her, a floral-woody-musk fragrance for her comes housed in a multi-faceted bottle accented with the famous Rabanne XL Link. Inspired by the boat chains of Brittany, a place that has inspired both Paco Rabanne and Julien Dossena, the XL Link features a series of interlaced large and small links within La Maison’s signature jewellery pieces.
