Paris-based jewelry and accessories designer Yaz Bukey visited Hudson’s Bay in Toronto today along with shu uemura Pro Artist Ludovic to officially launch the Yazbukey for shu uemura makeup collection. This is a limited edition collaboration between Yaz and the Japanese artistry brand. The project took a total of 18 months to complete with the signature Yaz red lipstick taking more than a year to perfect. “I discovered my love of makeup at the age of 11 when I first saw Culture Club. Boy George was such an inspiration for me then as he is today,” she says. “After that I made such a mess of my mother’s makeup table. I would dig right into all her makeup.” That passion for makeup along with a finely tuned eye for colour led to a joyful collection of eyeshadows, lipsticks and cleansing oils. “I kept sending Ludovic sketches and ideas right up to the last minute,” she laughs. “I only sleep a few hours per night. I have so many ideas. They never stop.” With her signature look and dramatic poses, I’m convinced she’d make an idea Bond Girl. Here are some behind the scenes pictures from today’s event!
