Of all the limited edition colour collections this past year, Paul & Joe’s Summer Collection is our very favourite. Sophie Mechaly, creator and designer for the French fashion and beauty brand, created an adorable collection for cat lovers everywhere. She embossed a cat head on eyeshadows, designed a pair of collector face palettes with incorporated cat heads into the bullets of lipstick. So clever and fun. (See the entire collection here.)
“It’s about having fun. I don’t ask for advice, I just have things I love,” says Mechaly. And clearly, Sophie is fond of cats.
The Paris-based designer launched her signature fashion brand in 1995 after working with Azzedine Alaia where she honed her skills. She named the brand after her sons, Paul and Joe. It was an immediate success and she expanded into beauty in 2002. She describes the cosmetics as “fun-loving sophistication” and that really does sum up the brand nicely. Lipsticks come wrapped in floral wallpaper print designs and soft pink ribbed packaging. It’s charming.
The highlight of the Summer Collection is the Sparkling Eye Colour that incorporates two complementary shades. It promises a deep, sparkling sheen for your eyes with good pigment. Here are my three favourite shades.

The beautiful green and bronze colors look so complimentary to each other and to pair with other shades in a make-up look. The set is seriously almost too cute to use!
