“Until recently, nude shades or no makeup felt right,” explains shu’s international artistic director, Uchide. “But for the last couple of seasons, there’s a new feeling in the air – a spotlight on eyes, a ‘coloured eye’ moment. Vivid colours appeared, like a celebration of wearing makeup. It’s fresh and cheerful and I feel that this type of colour allows me the ability to enhance personal features and complement a total styling look. I emphasize the eyes using liners and brows and pair it with an understated lip for achieve the mood of summer 2018.” He says the eye colourist look can be created precisely by framing the eyes with pointed wings in bold colours and colouring the brows. He likes to then layer intense vibrant liners for a real Tokyo edge, finishing with a prismatic nuance for a holographic look.
