Barbie Pink Lips
The trend: Bold candy pink lips
The cities: New York City, London & Paris
The events: New York Mercedes Fashion Week SS15 and Milano Moda Donna SS15
As seen on the catwalk at: Moschino, Aquilano, and Altuzarra
Call it a backlash to the nude makeup movement. A handful of designers threw political correctness to the wind for spring 2015 and embraced American doll Barbie in all her vibrant pink glory. Jeremy Scott at Moschino took the look to the extreme taking Barbie’s wardrobe of jogging suits, headbands and hot pants and fashioning them for Real Wives of Beverly Hills fans. The show made headlines across Europe especially in London’s Daily Mail.
“I love it. I feel hot in this makeup,” said model Charlotte Free to Allure backstage before the show. It was celeb makeup artist Lucia Pieroni who designed the look. “I wanted the models to look like how I would imagine Barbie would look like if she was a real person today. So it isn’t too over the top. So lots and lots of lashes and that fantastic matte pink lip which we made using MAC lip mixes. I think we used magenta, white and yellow and mixed it all together.” Pieroni then made the same mixture again with lip gloss and brushed over the lipstick. She finished with beautiful skin and groomed brows.
If you are going to pull off this bold pink lip, ensure your lips are perfectly smooth. Brush them with a dry, soft toothbrush first to remove any dead skin. Then apply a lip primer or balm. Your lipstick will glide on and stay put much longer.
Here are a handful of our favourite bold, bold pink lip colours.

Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Magenta

April 27, 2015 at 11:49 amI love these bright pink colors. I never liked the nude lip or natural look makeup I general anyway.Dispite what I read as popular wisdom of the conventional day,i always flt it imbaanced to do a dramatic eye and understated lip.I like a cat eye or dramatic shadown liner & brow ,eye plus a dark or bright lipstick.TO ME that is balanced, and always has worked for me

April 6, 2015 at 3:31 pmHi Dave – Would love to have your advice: Can you recommend a foundation with a “Luminous Finish” or a “Glow”? Want to get it for my Mum – I prefer a more “Matte” look. We both have “Porcelain” complexions. Thank you so much! GAIL

April 6, 2015 at 3:22 pmLiving in “Maybelline WHISPER ‘LA LA LILAC'” lately – my favourite shade of Pink + Lavender! Just like the NARS shade. And of course LOVE “MAC” lipstick – but my favourites “SNOB” (Pink) + “XPOSE” (Nude) – discontinued after years! Not happy! Would LOVE to have them back! Any advice Dave?! 🙂 Thanks for all your work + advice! And GIFTS of course! SINCERELY – GAIL
