Japanese artistry brand shu uemura has teamed up with Pokemon for a limited edition holiday makeup collection. The brand is famous for selecting pop culture icons and artists to created eye-popping packaging during the festive season. The pair have partnered to create “Pika-shu”. Pka stands for “electric sparkling sounds” in Japanese and “shu” for shu uemura. This nickname for Pkachu will be seen exclusively for this collector collection.

You’ll notice that this “Pkashu” character sports cheerfully orange cheeks and bright red lips – staples of a shu uemura beauty look. It even boasts lovely purple eyes and a thunderbolt heart-shaped tail. This will no doubt become a favourite collection for collectors.

As with all shu limited edition collections, the star products are beautiful eyeshadow palettes – this season wrapped in gold and featuring the Pkashu illustrations. The limited edition pikashu eye palette thunder shock contains 12 shadows of berry, warm beiges and a pop of yellow. The Brick Blast Eye Palette includes 9 shadows of gold, bronze and fiery orange. Mythical Purple offers cool aubergine, fuchsia pink and silvery-beige.

The lipsticks are a work of brilliant pop art. Andy Warhol would definitely approve of the black lacquer accented with the Pkashu sketches in neon shades. Choose from “scarlet fire” and “mulberry frost” in rouge unlimited matte. “Flame thrower” and “pumpkin bomb” star in the rouge unilimited amplified collection. And rouge unlimited matte delivers “orange thunderbolt” and “crimson spin”. There is even a mini lip coffret for a chic stocking stuffer.

No shu collection would be complete without its ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil – in 450 ml and 150 ml sizes. This is one of the brand’s star products and is worth trying if you are new to shu uemura.

If you ever get to watch one of shu uemura’s master makeup artists, you’ll notice that the technique is incredibly precise. I once watched their creative director makeup up a model on stage and he placed each shade of makeup in the exact spot he wanted. It was almost like watching a great artist paint a very detailed painting. Technique is everything here. So you’ll see there is a special petal 55 foundation brush that promises an impeccable, streak-free finish.
