At first glance, the idea of the Osbournes collaborating with MAC Cosmetics seems like a strange idea. MAC has been focusing on celebs like Rihanna & Lorde lately. But behind the scenes, the pair has a long history with the edgy beauty brand. Both Kelly and Sharon work with a MAC pro artist regularly for red carpet appearances and have been in talks to create a limited edition collection for more than five years. Not surprisingly, both had a clear vision of what their collection should entail.
Every item in Sharon Osbourne’s line had to fulfill one key mandate: it had to be wearable. She wanted women who watch her on The Talk be able to wear every colour easily and to have the shades flatter a woman of a certain age. So you’ll notice that there are lots of soft golds and beiges, a soft rose-toned blush and nude beige lip pencils. It’s actually a really beautiful collection. The “Duchess Quad”, as she named it, contains four eyeshadow hues: a golden brown, a dark reddish-brown, a light golden nude and a soft warm bronze. A complementing Mineralize SkinFinish Duo in Refresh offers a light summer peach tan and a golden pink. Guaranteed to flatter almost any complexion. And to apply these shades, a medium angled shading brush and a face blender brush. Each item is housed in cherry red packaging embossed with Sharon’s signature in lavender.
It’s no surprise that violet plays a starring role in Kelly Osbourne’s collection considering the TV star’s penchant for lavender-hued hair colour. A mainstay on E! Channel’s Fashion Police and red carpet reporting, Kelly’s colour choices are a little more daring. The four lipsticks range from nude (Strip Poker) to light vivid orange (Riot House) to bright blue pink (Kelly Yum-Yum) to light lavender (Dodgy Girl). A coordinating lip pencil in bright yellow pink (In Synch) rounds out the lip products.
The Bloody Brilliant Quad combines soft muted plum brown, pale lilac, sparkling platinum, and blackened plum for more adventurous beauty fans. A duo of soft taupe and dark brown will appeal to those wanting more toned-down shades. There’s an eye kohl an a Jumbo Penultimate in true black to create a dramatic eye. And a pair of brushes in soft metallic lilac. Each product is housed in violet packaging with Kelly’s signature in red. The collection launches in North America and the UK June 12th and internationally in August. Prices range from $20 to $70
