Rose-Powered Luxury Skincare

Rose-powered luxury skincare! When Lancome founder Armand Petitjean created Absolue skincare in 1965, he did so as his ultimate creation – his art of beauty “a la francaise”. His goal was to take the very best skin regeneration science and combine it with the most beautiful texture and scent. That is the hallmark of French beauty. The sensation of a product is equally important to the active botanical ingredients. French beauty enthusiasts never rush their skincare regime morning and night. They’ll spend the time gently massaging products into their skin and will enjoy the fragrances and scents of each product in their collection. While time-starved North Americans look for multi-tasking products to cut their beauty routine time, French women use that time for themselves and never rush.

It’s telling that the Absolue range of skincare is still wildly popular 50 years since its introduction. Tapping the “precious cells” of rose freeze distillate, this botanical ingredient has proven anti-aging properties in skin. It is capable of reactivating one of the most complex skin biology mechanisms, revitalization. Lancome scientists actually update the formula as they make new discoveries in helping skin look younger, longer.

Rose freeze distillate tackles the destructive spiral of chronic inflammation in a number of ways. Environmental stressors such as UV rays, pollution, cigarette smoke, along with heightened stress levels can stimulate the production of pro-inflammatory messengers, such as interleukins (IL-1,6,8), prostaglandins (PGE2) and TNF alfa as well as free radicals. Each of these can harm the microenvironment of the epidermal skin cells, the key cells of skin regeneration. The ability of the epidermis to renew itself depends on the proper functioning of these precious cells. Over time, these repeated inflammations break down cell membranes and collagen and elastin fibres. Skin repair is slowed.

Lancome’s scientists have a multi-pronged attack on this process: help to reduce chronic inflammation, to reduce free radical production and to encourage tissue repair. This is all accomplished with a rose freeze distillate. Rosa dasmacena, one of 3,000 varieties of roses, has been found to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. This is the ingredient in all Lancome Absolue Precious Cells products that helps skin look and feel more youthful.

This month, Lancome adds three new products to the Absolue Precious Cells lineup.

I must try these products. I’m fighting a losing battle with my aged skin and having to take a bundle of medication. It’s hopeless trying to look 10 years younger but any improvement would be great so this is on my list to look out for.
