Beauty’s most anticipated fashion collaboration this season debuts this month. New York designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, better known as Proenza Schouler, have teamed up with MAC Cosmetics for a limited edition makeup collection. The tightly-edited, 15-piece collection boasts gradient metallic packaging and classic shades. The standout piece is arguably the ombre blush and appears in two shades: Sunset Beach (a cool pink ombre into beige) and Ocean City (a coral orange ombre into beige). The collection is expected to sell out in a matter of days (if it lasts that long).
MAC describes the makeup as a collection of confident colour with urban hues. It reflects the cleverness of the clothing the pair design. They, in fact, launched the edgy brand in 2002, having met while studying at Parsons School of Design where they collaborated on their senior thesis. The resulting collection was so spectacular it was bought in its entirety by Barneys New York. The designers took their name from the their mothers’ maiden names. Two years later, Proenza Schouler was awarded the inaugural CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund. They followed that up in 2007 with the first of two CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Awards. The collection is now sold in approximately 100 of the worlds most elite retailers.
