“Happy 85th Birthday, Lancome” Giveaway
French beauty house Lancome is celebrating a milestone birthday this month! The iconic cosmetics brand marks its 85th year in business with a full roster of product launches and instore events. The brand has put the emphasis on formula innovation and and inclusive, welcoming message in all its advertising and social media. That has paid off attracting a new generation of skincare and makeup enthusiasts around the globe.
Lancome was established in 1935 by Guillaume d’Ornano and business partner Armand Petitjean in France, originally as a fragrance house. The duo unveiled five fragrances at the 1935 World Fair in Brussels to overwhelming acclaim. This soon led to skincare and makeup products that were both effective and housed in beautiful packaging. It’s interesting to note that the name Lancome was inspired by the Lancosme forest that lies in the Indre valley in the heart of France’s La Brenne region. It was Guillaume’s wife Elisabeth d’Ornano who chose the name. She also picked the rose as the company’s emblem as an homage to the roses that flourished in the area. (The d’Ornano family would go on to found the Sisley brand years later.)
Today, Lancome is sold in countries in every continent. It is beloved for its makeup, skincare and fragrance products. Many have won global beauty awards. I honestly believe the Bi-Facil Double Action Makeup Remover is the best one on the market. It effectively removes the most waterproof makeup in a gentle manner. And the mascara formulas remain bestsellers in most countries.
