Guerlain’s French Riviera-inspired Summer Look

 

When I interviewed fashion designer Michael Kors years ago, he told me his number one beauty tip was to invest in a good quality bronzer. He said that even though you couldn’t afford to spend a couple weeks at a luxury hotel on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, you could look like it with a couple good bronzing products. While earlier bronzing formulations had the tendency to make you look a little orange, today’s luxe bronzers are a marvel of colour science that perfectly mimic a natural glow. I’ve interviewed several scientists who have worked on creating bronzing powders and the amount of optical science that goes into it would astound you. They study how light reflects off skin and within skin. (Yes, light does penetrate into the skin a little and is reflected back) Then they work with the pigments to get a bronzing colour with depth.
