Dior Addict Stellar Dazzles

Dior Beauty has just unveiled a pair of cutting-edge lip colour formulas that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The first is a bam-texture lipstick with a star-shaped core containing pearlescent pigments for a multi-dimensional shine. The second is a plumping lip gloss with an innovative balm-like texture. Both deliver beautiful colour.

There is definitely a “star” theme in beauty this season. And Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup has put his own spin on the trend with Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine, a lipstick with a simmering star infused at its core to boost shine. To start, you’ll notice the silver cap of this lipstick is adorned with a star, just like the one Christian Dior followed in 1947 and kept his entire life. He was asking for a sign as to whether he should open up his own couture fashion house and he spotted it on the sidewalk in front of him. After that, stars played a pivotal part of every collection he did.

What’s interesting about this launch is the progress Dior’s scientists have made in terms of texture and comfort. They have incorporated a lip-care base of natural-origin beeswax, fine silky oils and aloe vera. Lips are nourished and supplied with up to 24-hours of hydration. Think of it as a luxurious lip balm with beautiful colour. There is even an addictive vanilla scent.

For those who prefer a plumping lip gloss, Philips has developed a first for the brand – a lip gloss that combines the expert ingredients from lip gloss and lip balm. This is more difficult than it sounds – mainly because many of the lip balm ingredients don’t like to work with coloured pigment. It takes a very skilled chemist to get all the ingredients to perform in unison. You may notice aloe vera and cranberry oil that add moisture and plumping shine for a mirror effect on lips. This product also contains beeswax and jojoba oils for comfort.

You may not give your lip gloss applicator much thought but there is actually a lot of research and science behind it. The gloss applicator is formulated with ultra-soft fibres that easily pick up the perfect amount of product and delivers it onto lips. It hugs the lips and provides the perfect shine in one swipe. I can tell you Dior would have tried dozens and dozens of prototypes to get to the final design.

“By coupling the shade from the lipstick with one, or several, of the glosses, every woman can create her own look and colours, and shine how she truly wants to. Makeup is even more spectacular, reinvented with new combinations to suit every whim,” says Philips.
