Unicorn beauty is a global trend that began at summer musical festivals Coachella and Glastonbury where men and women wore bright rainbow makeup in eye-popping hues: cornflower yellow, crimson red, lime green and azure blue. The joyful eye, lip and face shades reflected the spirit of the music and party vibe.
Soon after, the LGTBQ community embraced the look. Beauty companies reacted with incredible eyeshadow palettes in dozens of bold colours. The colours of the rainbow flag, a symbol of inclusion and diversity, became bestsellers at beauty counters and online.
This season, the trend evolves to a new meaning. Beauty unicorns are individuals who are brave enough to stand up for what they believe and to be who they are. It’s about having the courage to be unique and true to yourself. It’s a wonderful approach that celebrates individuality. I salute this trend on my latest Cityline segment. You can watch it below.
