Carolina Herrera Good Girl & Bad Boy Fragrance Giveaway
Fashion label Carolina Herrera’s tagline may be “It feels so good to be bad”. They may want to edit it to say it also smells good to be bad. That’s because the brand has just launched a complementary men’s fragrance to its Good Girl franchise called Bad Boy. It’s a fresh spicy-ambery scent with notes of black and white pepper, bergamot, tonka bean, cocoa and amber wood. The fragrance was created by perfumers Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner, the pair behind the global smash Good Girl – a scent that has recently cracked the top 5 worldwide.
“We wanted to push the boundaries and create something new,” explains Carolina Herrera. “Most men’s fragrances today are fougeres. So we set out to reimagine it by pairing roasted tonka bean with clary sage. It is fresh yet still incredibly sexy.”
She says that when they were developing the Good Girl fragrance, the team tried over 600 different styles of shoes for the bottle shape. “We tried sneakers, ballerina flats, prostitute shoes…everything. Finally we came to the stiletto and we knew it was right for the project. For the men’s version, we asked ourselves, should we have a bottle shaped as a motorcycle helmet, boat, motorcycle, or a car? But we wanted something that was more symbolic.” Enter the lightening bolt. From the ancient Greeks to modern superhero films, the lightening bolt is iconic.
But making a lightening bolt fragrance bottle turned out to be a bigger challenge that first imagined. Most glass bottles are dropped and blown into a round shape. This bottle had to be dropped into a mold, turned upside down, then turned upside down again. More than 25% of the prototypes had to be recycled. It took months to perfect.
The Good Girl stiletto flacon took more than two years to create. It too was a technical challenge of mammoth proportions. It had to balance perfectly on the gold heel. Not surprisingly it was an immediate hit with fashionistas around the globe. The ambery-floral scent blended notes of almond, coffee, bergamot, tuberose, jasmine sambac, orris, orange blossom, Bulgarian rose, tonka bean, cacao, vanilla, praline, sandalwood, amber, musk, cinnamon and patchouli. It’s a complex blend of notes.
Initial response to Bad Boy has been very strong. The fragrance is already ranking in the top 20 in the United States and in the top 10 in the U.K. with more countries launching this spring. It looks like Carolina Herrera has another hit on her hands.
THE GIVEAWAY: I gave away a Carolina Herrera Good Girl & Bad Boy fragrance duo to one lucky ready.
