Clarins unveils Alpine-inspired expert cleansers.
At any one time, scientists at the Clarins’ Research and Development facility just outside of Paris are investigating the possible benefits to skin of more than 400 different plant species. Jacques Courtin-Clarins was a pioneer in this field and spent his entire life searching for botanicals that had beneficial effects on human skin. From leaves that helped detoxify skin to roots that helped encourage skin firming, Jacques made it the company mission to travel the world in search of rare trees and plants with remarkable qualities.
This search has extended upward to an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level right into the Alps where this is little to no water, air or soil pollution. The pristine land that hugs towering mountains is the home of Domaine Clarins, farmland where workers grow plants in harmony with the seasons through organic agriculture inspired by permaculture. Everything is produced with the greatest respect for the environment. Clarins calls it the “open-air laboratory” where nature dictates how plants grow and mature.
“Le Domaine Clarins offers us the chance to grow the best ingredients while preserving the environment,” says Dr. Olivier Courtin-Clarins.
The alpine herbs grown in Domaine Clarins are key ingredients in a handful of new Expert Cleansers designed to cleanse and balance skin in the most gentle manner. Choose from three new facial cleansers: Cleansing Micellar Water, Velvet Cleansing Milk and Total Cleansing Oil. Each contains a pair of Alpine star ingredients: organic yellow gentian and organic lemon balm. Combined, they create a Gentle Complex that soothes, softens and calms skin.
Balancing the skin is the next step in the Clarins’ alpine approach. This is done through a trio of gentle toners that work to help support the skin’s microbiota, more than 100 billion bacteria that reside on human skin. They are neither good nor bad, but need to remain in balance for our skin to be healthy. Recent research reveals that pollution, UV rays, antibiotics can disturb this balance making your skin appear dull, uncomfortable and prone to imperfections. this balance. The three expert toners include: Purifying Toning Lotion, Hydrating Toning Lotion and Soothing Toning Lotion. Each formula incorporates saffron flower extract and meadowsweet.
Skincare companies are taking more control of the growing and harvesting of key plant ingredients by investing in key farmland. By overseeing the organic agriculture themselves, then can ensure the quality and supply will always be to their standards.

January 29, 2023 at 4:36 pmI would love to just go see those fields where Clarins get their ingredients. It’s no wonder their products are so good. I love the scientific, clinical approach they take to skincare. And I really want to try all 3 of those toners! I used to skip toning before I realized the real benefits of it. All of these and every Clarins’s product is an alpine allstar in my book!! Thx Dave!! xoxoJJ

January 23, 2023 at 11:56 pmClarins is an enduring brand for a good reason and this interesting post is a good example of why.
I knew about the microscopic mites that reside on faces but had not given any thought to the skin’s microbiota. Fascinating that more than 100 billion bacteria reside on human skin!
