New York fashion designer Marc Jacobs has partnered with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami for a limited edition collection of four Daisy fragrances this month that is pure joy. Co-designed by Jacobs, Murakami and Coty, the fragrances bring an olfactory experience to Takashi’s whimsical and happy artwork, smiling blooms of all sizes and shapes. It’s meant to charm your senses and colour your world. These are four new fragrances.
Takashi Murakami, who will celebrate his 61st birthday on February 1st, draws inspiration from traditional Japanese painting, sci-fi, anime, and the global art market creating paintings, sculptures and films. His work really does intersect pop culture, history and fine art. He earned a BA, MFA, and PhD from Tokyo University of the Arts and works with a multitude of brands around the world on art projects.
The collaboration is a perfect match as Marc Jacobs has always drawn inspiration from art and artists throughout his career both at Louis Vuitton and in his signature collections. I once interviewed the executive at Coty who worked with Jacobs on all his fragrance collections and she said he works very much by instinct. He’ll layer fabrics, accessories, materials until he gets a feeling that the design is right. And she told me he won’t approve of anything until he gets that feeling – he doesn’t work with schedules or deadlines.
The Marc Jacobs Daisy Murakami Limited Edition Collection is available globally for spring 2026. Once the collector bottles sell out, they won’t be restocked or produced again. So if you like one, be sure to shop early. (It’s available in Canada at Shoppers)
