8 for October: The best new products launching this month. Those poor shipping and receiving crews in department stores! This month is the busiest time for beauty shipping docks as the second half of fall launches arrive just as all the holiday gift sets and limited editions arrive. You can understand why retailers have to staff up to handle the sheer volume of beauty products arriving.

 

All these launches are great news for beauty enthusiasts but having covered this industry for well over a decade, I find that some of the most interesting items get lost in the volume. Beauty companies typically invest advertising in the products that will deliver the greatest sales. Limited edition makeup makes up a fraction of their overall sales so these rarely get advertising attention.

 

For this reason, I’ve reviewed the collections of some of my favourite brands. And I’ve uncovered some gems. They arrive throughout the month and will all be on counter by the last week in October. But you may want to but your name on a waiting list if you see something you really want.

 

Thierry Mugler Angel Immaculate Star 2015 Limited Edition

Fans of Mugler’s sumptuous gourmand fragrance will want to snap up this special limited edition bottle of Angel. There are Swarovski crystals dotting the star-shaped bottle accented with the pale blue scent itself. There are hundreds of women around the world who collect the Angel bottles and I once had the opportunity to showcase a dozen of the rarest ones on Cityline, the tv show I appear on. They really are works of art.

 

YSL Kiss & Love Multi Usage Palette

Red hot lip prints are the starring accent for the French brand’s edgy holiday collection. This palette contains eye, lip and cheek colours to create the perfect festive party look. Update your smoky eye look with dark brown accented with high pearl gold, silvery shimmer and champagne hues. A pop of coral blush enhances the complexion while two Rouge Volupte shades: Light Pink and Pure Red are infused with gold pearls. It’s a beautiful palette that will impress your most discerning beauty friends.

 

MAC Enchanting Eve Lips set in Pink

The first of MAC’s holiday collections arrives on counter October 22^nd and this sleek lip palette is one of the highlights. It features a clean pastel pink, a dark fuchsia and a deep pink/purple. It easily would slip into a Christmas stocking or impress a co-worker.

 

Clarins Super Restorative Remodelling Serum

The French skincare authority updates its Super Restorative franchise this month with an even more effective serum targeting 50+ skin. It works to reshape, redefine and restore radiance. New research into how skin is weakened by hormonal changes: features begin to slacken and sag. Narrow-leaf Plantain helps to limit the melting of adipose tissue caused by ageing fibroblasts. It works to preserve volume in the face. Organic oat polyoses works to gently tighten skin for an immediate “lifting” effect. This serum is worth checking out.

 

Burberry Kisses in Nude Beige

Finding the perfect nude lipstick is no easy feat. If you go too light, you risk creating an effect that is too pale. Add in too much pigment and you lose that catwalk nude look. Christopher Bailey for Burberry designed this lipstick for his Autumn Runway show and it is really great. It has the perfect amount of warmth to flatter so many skin tones.

 

Givenchy Live Irresistible

Get ready to see a lot of this fragrance across my platforms. It is one of my favourites of the season. You’ll see it arrive mid-month on fragrance counters. It’s a youthful floral-fruity-spicy scent for her that is fronted by Amanda Seyfried. I love the studded glass bottle. If you love rose notes, you’ll like Live Irresistible.

 

Shiseido Perfecting Stick Corrector

Celebrity makeup artist Dick Page is rather shy. Which is why you don’t see him on the pages of the Daily Mail like you do Charlotte Tilbury. But Page is often the artist behind the covers of major fashion magazine covers like American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. He’s been Creative Director for Shiseido makeup for years and he refuses to launch a beauty product until it is absolutely perfect. (I’ve heard stories that he drives the company’s chemists in the labs crazy with his revisions.) All that attention to detail is evident in this new stick concealer. A moderately thick formula, this product gives solid coverage without looking cakey. Use it to pinpoint small dark spots, acne scars or dark circles under the eyes. It is available in six shades.

 

3LAB Anti-Aging Eye Lift

Serious skincare consumers will recognize the name 3LAB. It’s an American skincare lab that specializes in luxury products. This is a brand that only launches formulas when there is a new “skin changing” technology. The brand’s chemists recently discovered Ephemer, a powerful antioxidant derived from Brown Microalgae found deep along the ocean floor. Clinical studies show it works to increase the antioxidant capacity of the skin, helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and assists the body protect Mitochondrial DNA. Expect to see other brands tap this new ingredient in the coming years.
