2021 Luxe Beauty Winners’ Gallery

I can’t believe that 2021 marks the 10th year that I have been giving away my favourite brands and products on Twitter. The idea began with my Cityline in-studio appearances where I would provide a beauty gift bag to all 80 members of the audience at the end of my segment. These became so popular that the poor Cityline receptionist had to stop telling callers when I was scheduled to appear the demand was so high for the seats. To make sure viewers at home didn’t feel left out, we decided to give one away on Twitter when the show aired. Again, response was overwhelming.

So in 2011, I joined Twitter and started to give away my favourite products. What is different about what I do is that I don’t get paid for giving away products on Twitter. I only give away the brands and products that I truly love. That remains true today. From time-to-time I get approached by makeup and skincare brands to host giveaways. If I don’t the products offer good value and quality, I pass on the invitation. The products you see on my feed are the ones I stand behind as a beauty editor and journalist.

What’s wonderful to see are the photos that followers and winners share from around the world. I’ve had winners from every corner of the world over the past 10 years. From Australia and New Zealand to India and South Africa. From Greece to the United States. I’ve even had a winner from northern Alaska. I’m constantly amazed that beauty enthusiasts around the world love the same brands and colours. We really do live in a global community now.

I want to thank every single follower who has sent a congratulations tweet to a winner in the past. These tweets are almost as exciting for winners as the products themselves. To see people all around the world cheering their win makes a wonderful impression. I remember years ago I had a woman from the deep south of the United States message me after she won a prize. She said, “Why are people happy for me? There are so many people tweeting me congratulations.” I told her they were genuinely happy for her. People all around the world happy for her. I noticed that a week later she was tweeting congrats to winners and had made Twitter friends with people around the globe. It opened her eyes to the wonderful people around the world on Twitter.
