This week’s exclusive subscriber giveaway: Clarins “The Essentials” Eye Palette
As 2016 comes to a close, you could say one of the biggest beauty trends at retail was mammoth neutral eye palettes. Almost every brand came out with one or more multi-pan eyeshadow compacts with shades that ranged from champagne to nude to warm chocolate brown. They’ve all been best-sellers as these colours are universally flattering and easy to wear.
What makes Clarins’ “The Essentials” palette so special is the backstory. For several years, the French beauty brand has worked with Pur Project to support Amazonia Indian communities including the Ashaninka. It buys raw materials from these communities to provide sustainable and responsible businesses. Clarins first started working with the Ashaninkas in 2013 to support a vast reforestation programme called Povos da Floresta, which aims to reforest areas damaged by cattle rearing. So far, 20,350 trees have been planted. Sales of this special eye palette will help plant 40,000 more fruit and forest trees including those that produce the Annatto seed used to dye food and fabrics. Even the packaging of this palette is eco-friendly having been rigorously selected according to Clarins’ eco-responsible charter.
The giveaway: I’m giving away a Clarins “The Essentials” palette to a lucky newsletter subscriber. To enter, tell me in a blog post comment what your thoughts are on this project and palette. I’ll draw one name at random from all those who comment on December 14th. If you have a Twitter name, please include it in your blog comment. It is the fastest way for me to contact winners.
