When it comes to designer fragrances, packaging and bottle design are arguably just as important as the actual juice. Bottle design and silhouette can take just as long to develop as a fine fragrance. But one of the aspects of perfumery that often gets overlooked is the gift set design. More than 40 percent of perfume sales take place in the month of December leading up to Christmas so eye-catching gift sets can make or break a brand’s annual sales. Sets have become more and more important as time-strapped consumers look for pre-wrapped items then can just slip under a Christmas tree without have to spend hours wrapping.
I’ve reviewed dozens and dozens of holiday 2017 fragrance gift sets and I think I’ve found the most creative and impressive. It’s Viktor & Rolf’s Bonbon Luxe “By the Candlelight” gift set. The three-piece set contains a 50 ml eau de parfum, 50 ml scented body lotion and 50 ml perfumed shower gel. It retails for $135 with a value of $165. The products are housed in a candle-shaped package with a faux flame at the top. The canister is wrapped in a hot pink bow and the black Viktor and Rolf seal opens to reveal the contents. It’s incredible!
Bonbon is a sweet gourmand for her with notes of caramel, mandarin, orange blossom, peach, jasmine, cedar, guaiac wood, sandalwood & amber. It was created by perfumers Cecile Matton and Majoullier in 2014 and is ideal for anyone with a sweet tooth.
