British fashion house Burberry has just launched its most extensive range of lipsticks, designed to give buildable sheer to high coverage with just one shade. Buildable, moisturizing and lightweight, the collection offers a luminous finish leaving lips feeling smooth and hydrated. Shiny polymers in the formula create rich brilliance. All 28 shades, from nudes to brights, were directly inspired by tones in the brand’s ready-to-wear collections.

“Burberry Kisses allow women to choose the end look they want from a barely there wash of colour to deeper coverage,” says Burberry Makeup Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe. “The new collection includes our most extensive colour palette to date with a great range of colours to choose from, from wearable nudes to classic reds.”

 

The signature shade in the collection is “Military Red”, a bold red that is complimented by Burberry Nails in Oxblood. Suki Waterhouse is once again the face of the campaign, her seventh for Burberry Beauty. She is also the face of Brit Rhythm Floral and the Spring/Summer 2015 Burberry Makeup collection. The ad was shot in London by Mario Testino under the creative direction of Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey. Waterhouse is photographed alongside British musician George Le Page. The TV and online ad features the song “Anything For You” performed by acoustic musician Misty Miller.

When asked what is was like shooting with Mario Testino, Suki replied: “Amazing. I’ve never met someone with so much energy that charges the shoot. The pictures feel very early ‘2000 Mario.’ I can’t wait to see the campaign.” She says her favourite shade from the Burberry Kisses range is ‘Rose Pink’.

“The best beauty advice I’ve ever been given is meditation,” she says. “ Also writing lists of things you’d like to release and let go of and burning them. I believe we are most beautiful when are constantly shedding our old selves and moving into new light.” She admits to making a few beauty mistakes over the years. “I’ve made so many! When I was 14, I couldn’t be bothered to tweeze my eyebrows so I would shave them in between. One time my hand slipped and I had half an eyebrow.” Older and wiser, she keeps her beauty regime simple and streamlined. “I cleanse, use Vitamin C serum and twice a week apply retinol at night. And her go-to look for red-carpet events? “Definitely a cat-eye!”

The makeup look for the campaign was developed by Rowe and features radiant, glowing skin and a bold red lip. It’s a striking look meant to really “pop” on social media and digital platforms.

 

What’s interesting about this launch is manner in which Christopher Bailey taps into digital media to communicate and sample the product. In the UK and US, beauty enthusiasts can share a kiss with a friend on social media. The recipient will be able to request a miniature Burberry Kisses lipstick in one of four signature colours – Military Red, Sepia, Nude Beige and Nude Pink.
